State of Origin, 2025.

DCE wasn't the worst half for QLD.

It's pretty obvious he is actively avoiding contact though, which I'm not sure translates well in any footy, but especially SOO.

Man, Barnett was really good for NSW. I thought he was better than the two bigger media names, Haas and Cardigan. I wish we had him at Manly, he is exactly what we need. And Luam is made for SOO
Nah, we don't need quality forwards ...... just more plodders. Plodders are what we need. If they don't plod we don't need them.

It's a best of 3 series so no crowing + smugness from me...yet.

Banter is a good thing though I do think if you meme dish it out you should hang around and take a bit of guff back.

Otherwise you may come across as an annoying spammer in the lead up, and a total whiny little boy super sooky diddums baby assed git after it.

And who'd wanna be that? lolol

You are right, Munster was the worst. He lost the plot bigly, wrestling holds, not releasing the tackled player, just low grade nigglathon from this pretender and kicking game was abysmal. Just lucky he's an old teammate of Slater.

Yer, but that’s footy mate, we all know that’s a tough carry off your own line in Origin at Lang Park yep I’ll call it Lang park against QLD chasing points before halftime, I don’t hold that against Trell. I thought his defence was excellent, his a must have in any rep side, he just brings that X factor and intimidation. Young’s lost ball down the other end was worse pushing a play that wasn’t on and not necessary.
Gee, and Latrell didnt know the state of play ? Both incidents had me foaming @ the mouth TBH. OK for you Raff but you probably don't have to live up here with these 2 heads.

The call by Andrew Johns to replace DCE seems like change for the sake of change. You could argue that at the moment he might not be the right choice for captain, but Munster, Ponga and other Queensland backs were less effectual than DCE last night.

That being said, once or twice he looked pretty slow getting up from a tackle. It's surely his last Origin series.

My own player ratings from last night:

NSW
FB - Dylan Edwards - 7/10
- Solid without being great. Was in the right place at the right time to score off of Watson's offload.
WG - Brian To'o - 7/10 - Suspect hammy but still managed 200 run metres. Unlike NSW commentators, I thought he deserved his bin. It might have been reactionary, but he still grabbed Coates in mid-air.
CE - Stephen Crichton - 9/10 - Best centre in the game and he showed it last night. Gave Hammer a lesson.
CE - Latrell Mitchell - 7/10 - Had a good game but didn't overshadow his Origin rookie opposite.
WG - Zac Lomax - 8/10 - Took advantage of a disjointed Qld left edge like any good winger should.
FE - Mitchell Moses - 7/10 - IMO the best half on the park last night.
HB - Nathan Cleary - 6/10 - Nothing spectacular, just did his job except for goal kicking.
PR - Mitch Barnett - 8/10 - Justified his selection with a dominating performance in his opening stint.
HK - Reece Robson - 7/10 - Nothing spectacular, just did his job and did it well.
PR - Payne Haas - 9/10 - He and Barnett dominated early and Qld never recovered.
SR - Liam Martin - 7/10 - Does he ever stop?? In that sense he reminds me of Jake in younger days.
SR - Angus Crichton - 8/10 - Qld struggled to handle him for most of the night.
LK - Isaah Yeo - 9/10 - Haas or Yeo for MoM?? Either would have done.

BE - Connor Watson - 7/10 - Poor defence from Qld allowing his offload.
BE - Spencer Leniu - 6/10 - Was OK but didn't set Origin alight like many thought he might.
BE - Hudson Young - 6/10 - Did nothing to suggest he should be dropped.
BE - Max King - 7/10 - I actually thought he went OK last night.

QLD
FB - Kalyn Ponga - 5/10
- Qld needed some of his magic last night, but didn't get it.
WG - Xavier Coates - 7/10 - In days of old he'd have probably gotten a penalty try when To'o tackled him in mid-air.
CE - Robert Toia - 7/10 - On debut I don't think he was overshadowed by Latrell.
CE - Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow - 3/10 - How many times does he have to show he's a pi$s poor defender at centre before they stop putting him there??
WG - Valentine Holmes - 4/10 - Definitely not his best game for Qld, in fact close to his worst really. IMO he should be the centre and Hammer the winger.
FE - Cameron Munster - 3/10 - Had a stinker of a game with 11 missed tackles.
HB - Daly Cherry-Evans - 5/10 - Even greats like Thurston, Johns and Toovey would have looked like chumps behind that pack last night.
PR - Moeaki Fotuaika - 4/10 - Targeted Moses, but failed to make much of an impact on the Blues forwards.
HK - Harry Grant - 3/10 - Last night was not the Harry Grant we all know.
PR - Tino Fa'asuamaleaui - 6/10 - Ran hard all night, but overshadowed by the Blues engine room.
SR - Reuben Cotter - 5/10 - 38 tackles, but only ran for 48 metres. Not enough.
SR - Jeremiah Nanai - 5/10 - Decent enough defence but like most Maroons forwards, not enough grunt work.
LK - Pat Carrigan - 6/10 - Made tackles, and metres (102), but gave away silly penalties and missed 6 tackles to go along with his game high 49 made.

BE - Tom Dearden - 5/10 - Actually came on in the unfamiliar position of hooker and did OK but missed 6 tackles showing he's not a great middle defender. If NSW commentators had their way, would be the halfback for Game 2 in Perth.
BE - Lindsey Collins - 6/10 - Best of the Maroons forwards (starting or bench) and should probably start Game 2.
BE - Beau Fermor - 5/10 - Limited minutes on debut, but didn't do much wrong.
BE - Trent Loiero - 5/10 - Another on debut who did OK in limited time.

Qld Womens' team manages to avoid a whitewash series loss by wining the third match against NSW in a score of 18 - 14.

I'm sure she'll never do it again but Isabelle Kelly had a try for NSW disallowed when she crossed the line, unmarked, slid to put the ball down....but didn't ground the ball!

87cb96d773a416cb4e123d548c262a1b

Belinda Sharpe proving she's an nrl refs by making an obvious stuff up...
Jesse Southwell tries for the short kick-off and Jaime Chapman recovers the bouncing ball without a contest.
Everybody, including NSW stops, and there's confusion for a moment before Belinda Sharpe blows her whistle for a penalty, but Chapman and the ball were absolutely over the 40m line. Bad miss by Sharpe and the touchie.

So... a 2-1 series win for the Blues, and I'll take that as a minimum for the guys as well.
Hopefully the men don't think this qld team is a pushover as Qld will be better next game and so will nsw have to be.

DCE 22 tackles 4 misses
Munny 29 tackles 10 misses
Cleary. 22 tackles 0 misses
Moses. 15 tackles 4 misses

To be fair

In previous origin series DCE positive input has been well over hyped by media and ST alike looking to reinforce there own opinions and probably his lack of impact is on the same trajectory

Going by the Presser he is worried that he might not get picked next game, he was almost pleading with Billy to pick him again, Dearden is much more explosive when he comes on
Not agreeing with your Perspective Presser views at all Feathered friend

DCE was not worried or Pleading with his coach after the Defeat
DCE has always Proven in his Illustrious long Resilient career that
Defeat in never Fatal
It is all About the opportunity of redemption to continue and make amends

Dearden was more explosive when he came on late because he was fresh from the middles blues constant bombardment and the ill disciple first half from his forwards that starved them from possession and exhausted their energy levels

To put these stats in more Perspective
The QLD backs were fatigued by having to tackle more due to the ill disciple and ineffective QLD forwards that gave away penalties and ground by being driven back through out the game
The NSW halve stats would have been different behind a different non dominant pack as well the result of the game

I'm with you.
I was just putting the stats up for old mate who said DCE was "obviously and actively avoiding contact"!

I understand that feathered friend
You are with common sense and not with common spite of DCE
It is obvious that when your players are gassed from a heavy defensive load
They dont have much left to put their foot on the peddle in attack
