Steve Matai Medical Retirement

From Foxsports:

Manly have had their submission for Brett Stewart’s medical retirement officially rejected, and Steve Matai’s application is headed for the same fate.

Chairman Scott Penn’s recent optimism around Matai’s estimated $600,000 salary being scratched from their 2017 cap — “I’d be surprised if we didn’t get his cleared” — has raised a few eyebrows across the game.

The official line out of the NRL is that they are still waiting on “independent medical advice” as to the cause of Matai’s career-ending knee injury.

Unofficially Manly are buckley’s chance of getting the dispensation and will have to cop the combined $1.2 million of Stewart and Matai’s pay packets.

Had the clearance been granted, the Sea Eagles could have pre-paid some 2018 salaries with the cash freed up — as North Queensland have done with boom youngster Coen Hess this year.

C**ts!!

I don't believe for a second these two are actually injured or they would of been around the club as some stage during the year.
It seemed a certainty from the start of the year that these guys wouldn't play but there was no news on them picking up any new injuries during preseason.

I think it's something else was going on and that's why we haven't heard a peep from them.

I can't blame the NRL on this one

This news is old hat, a fat lot of good it would do the club now even if they got a medical retirement. I think it is telling that the club has not really bothered in relation to getting this for Skivvy, if it is true that we didn't give them the documentation.

It does stink that our club is denied this, yet the whinging worms got an exemption for Whatmough who had a chronic injury.

The clock is ticking on Greenturd and his unfairness!!

This is what happened to Manly's application as soon as the NRL received it:

The way the game is heading greenturd will be goooooone soon. The NRL is in a bad financial situation and the players are revolting, channel 9's ratings are shot and the turds bunker is proving incompetant as is his leadership ability, patience my friends patience our day will come.
Dont tease me! Im not so sure though. Toddles has cast a baffling spell over many and i get the feeling he will be around a bit longer..

Stewart has had dodge knees for years.

Matai has had a problem with his neck for ages.

Shock horror. Their pre existing injuries.

The club is trying to put some of next year salary cap in this year.

Can't blame them for that. But there's 0 % chance of success. And agree. Can't blame the nrl.
