Summer Competition

I don’t know how everyone else feels but the off season is doing my head in. Get a life you say.. true. But there has to be more exciting things to look forward to for us eagles fans than rumoured signings, wish lists and rehashed articles of an upgraded brookie oval. I’m talking about a summer competition, showcasing the fringe players, the ‘potentials’ of each club. Could be played at night under lights. Maybe have a few marquee players to add to the hype and interest. Will certainly give us starved league fans something to cheer about in the off-season and players the opportunity to stake a claim for first grade positions at season proper.

Understand where you are coming from, but I cant see the clubs agreeing to this.

They will be worried about losing their back-up players to season injuries and if the NRL doesn't give cap dispensation, could see them entering 2018 a player or 2 short on depth. There is also the risk of player fatigue (esp in Qld).

Summer is for Cricket. With the Day/night tests, BBL and ODIs/T20I you pretty much have the whole summer covered with cricket.

women's lingerie comp......I volunteer to be water boy

Personally I like the fact that there is no league for months. It makes you miss it and appreciate it.

I used to love cricket when it was cricket season; nowadays it is always on somewhere around the world and I just got sick of it to the point where I don't follow it at all now.

By the time March rolls around we will all be chomping at the bit for round 1, which is how it should be.

This 100%. You’d get sick of it all year round. But the fact that you have to wait so long for attempt at success again is great and makes you hungry for the season to start.

Fortunately for me, I am part of the minority here that loves the A-League.
I'm happy to take a break while I watch Sydney FC try and go back to back.

Cricket is a serious yawnfest.

Funny. I feel the same way about soccer Simon. That game on Tuesday night was an embarrassment. I found myself going for Syria in the end.

I hear you but I still get itchy for some league. I guess we're lucky this year because of the world cup and we've also got that testimonial that we are all looking forward to.. *cough cough *

Don't get me wrong, I find myself going though withdrawals big time.

Being Friday lunchtime I had to find out exactly what this lingerie comp was about. Here are my findings:

Firstly I get where the idea is coming from...but as mentioned by others.....almost like the weekends - it’s more appreciated due to counting it down.
Personally a massive Liverpool supporter in the EPL and follow the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL.
Obviously the NRL is best, but a few beach adventures, Xmas events and other sport mixed with family time - it comes around quick enough.
