On Manly Home page Jorge is one of 4 Manly Players attending on Thursday. One could assume from this he will be staying next year as why would he go if not staying?

Players not staying would be released from representing Manly at functions already

Or it could be that players that are rested, can take up the slack in these functions.

Good on you Jorge.. I recall Stewart and Matai were paid up this year but had no input in promotional activities or helping out the youngsters in the team.

I suspect Shoulders and Snake were "allowed" to disappear gracefully and not interfere with DCE's team.

They were not paid for nothing though.

They paid with their bodies over many seasons, for us all to enjoy.

No disrespect to the great Snake and Matai for putting their bodies on the line for our club. I will forever be grateful and a life long fan. It just would have been great for them to have carried on their legacy off the field this year.

Maybe. I'm not sure..had they been fit DCE would have had a lot more to manage than just their shadow..Regardless, DCE has certainly risen to the challenges this year and has taken the reigns and stood up on and off the field. Good to see that Tafua and all the other lads are doing our club proud as well.

I could never let it be said that Snake and Shoulders didn't do us fans proud. They represented at many fan days over the 10+ years they were here.

Sometimes things happen for reasons we do not know. But big tick to hoorhay.

This matter has been extensively covered in previous Threads.

Manly were in the process of organizing a Medical Retirement for both Players.

If the NRL Doctor and Independent Doctor agreed that their injuries were after the signing of their current contracts, Manly would have received the Cap dispensation.

A Player can not undertake any Club activities in the year that he is granted medical retirement.
So both Players had to stay away and proceed with their medical checks etc.

As you may recall, when Parra were baulking at Choc's payout, he threatened to attend pre season, which would have resulted in his payout being part of Parra's Cap.


Baz had enough on his plate with all the new signings, to worry about Snake and Matai and the subjective NRL decision makers 😎

I don't believe that Snake's attitude towards Chez, would have been enough to have Manly excuse both he and Matai for Club activities, if the 'no-show for Cap exemption' was not a viable scenario

No

I'm saying that to get medical clearance, a player can not be fit for Club duties.
Nothing more nefarious about their absence IMO

The fact that Choc was OK'd and Snake and Matai were rejected, just shows the blatant subjective nature of the NRL rulings .😡

All 3 players damaged their bodies over a period of time.

Manly basically extended Snake and Matai to appease the Fans after their diabolic mismanagement of Toove's exit. There was no reason for it other than positive PR 😎
Both players had a high likelihood of compounding their injuries, but no one expected them to last just 6 months into the 2016 Season 🙁
