Team Vs Storm next week. (Pre-Game Day Discussion)

I love how Barrett has introduced flextime to rugby league. "Sorry I'd love to step up and help you fellas this weekend, but I'm on an RDO, going fishing."

Hope Marty didn't do his ribs on the bench press. The whole weights fetish thing leaves me cold. I don't follow weight lifting I want league players. The coach outta stamp it out.

Came off with the injury around 10 minutes to go in the Dragons match. For what it is worth the @nrlphysio account on twitter posted the below:

Taupau with fractured ribs. Usually 4-6 wk recovery, though as we have seen this week can be as little as 2 wks (Peachey)

You're kidding right? No need for 1/2 & 5/8 cover?? So better to go with 2 hookers than versatility? These days anyone can fill in as hooker, however if a half goes down then it makes it much much more difficult. Look at what happened to the Cows when Thurston got injured???

sorry, i left out the words 'drop brown as well' so then thered only be one hooker... i just thought it was a general consensus that needn't be brought up every post

You don't think Hastings can cover hooker more effectively than Cullen? I thought Cullen's passing was erratic when he came on, and Hastings defence is a lot better as was evident at the roosters last year (ave 0.8 missed tackles per game).

cullen puts hits on, like api, throws his body at the runners. hastings, although will less mistackles, would be more likely to be conservative in defense, and yes maybe less erratic, but therefore there would be less mongrel off the bench and less impact.
its splitting hairs, moral of the story is to have either cullen / hastings on the bench for a single hooker option and put brown into intrust cup.

I think rested is a different way of saying dropped, Maybe baz wants to show myles, and others, that people such as Perrett are also challenging for the top grade. Also glad to see Paseka on the extended bench, I've never wanted this on a manly player since Luke Burgess although I wish Brown came to the game injured so Paseka can play.

You might be on to something there. I notice that Trent Robinson has done the same to Latrell Mitchell, he's being 'rested' from this weeks game. But after his piss poor form against us and the Donkeys (where he got hooked), it wouldn't surprise me if rested is coachspeak for dropped.

Though I find it hard to understand why Myles would get rested or dropped right at the time we lose Taupau for about a month.

I just can't fathom why we would rest him now. I mean, do we gain anything with Lloyd Perrett?
Perrett is a big unit who can bend the line and offload . Bringing young up and coming players in would have a positive affect on the team .

Maybe Mr Plod is pursuing a boxing career like Meehan is :giggle:

Unless it's related to his wife's medical challenges, it can only mean that he is dropped @

I don't see how the spin of 'rested' helps anybody at all 😕

The thing about it is though is that now we are going to go into a game against Melbourne with 2 props and 2 utilities on the bench. It just doesn't make any sense.

The reality is that if Barrett has dropped Myles (though dropping him would mean he plays at Blacktown which isn't resting), he's really dropped the wrong player at the wrong time.

I think we all pretty much agree that if anyone should be dropped or 'rested' it should be Brown. Yet if you could bet on which bench player plays the most minutes, I'd be putting money on Brown playing more minutes than Hastings.
