He is in first grade now and has proved he deserves his own thread (I could only find a couple from a year or two ago).
A very impressive performance and I'm confident he will continue to excel. Well done!

If Jorge recovers then a centre spot for Funa is not out of the question, assuming at least one fo the regulars is still out. Parker's record of head injuries is a major worry actually.

Funa is a very capable centre and he also is a back up goal kicker as well. The boy did well and with the right service he is a menace to opposition defences close to the line.

Funa is still a little passive. He needs to put his body on the line more often and run stronger and jump higher.
He has the talent, but now needs to get the mental belief.

Had a much better game today. Seemed to have more confidence.

With turbo out and Elliot like to shift to FB, Funa will be pretty handy.

Jorge will hopefully be back but Suli is unlikely so I assume he will play in the centres next week.

He’s good - no-nonsense player, makes the right decisions more often than not. Has very good game awareness...little things like deciding to come in off the line when he might be put into touch, etc. Seems mature, and intelligent. I guess he was U20s captain for a good reason..

From what I have seen of Funa so far I think he plays best in the centres
I also think with more NRL game time he will get more confidence and come out of his shell and shine

Centre takes him out of the bomb zone which appears to be his only weakness, so he may be Elliots replacement.For a young bloke to change his line on TurbotS pass that early shows football smarts.

I like his willingness to take the tough runs off our line.

He's had a promising start. And the presence of mind to adjust his line when he ran on to Turbo's pass.....very nice.

Personally thought he went ok game 1....Coates will outleap anyplayer - especially with zero protection and momentum....played well both games for a Rookie, with the number 1 attribute in footy / Have a Go a definite part of his game

I’d leave Funa where he is & stick Jorge alongside Parker into centre! Won’t have to worry about bombs, will be great defensively, will be hard to contain & can still make his strong runs off the line! If for any reason it becomes “iffy” then he & Funa swap! I think Croker 5/8, Elliott to FB......Marty back means the bench could be Schuster, Paseka, Keppie, Boyle!!!
