That 40-0 GF - favourite moment

Watched this game again last nite for the 1400th time....what a damn game it was....
So many magic moments and plays.
This 1 goes out to the "Better Robbo" as his less illustrious brother was magnificent as we all know, with a hat trick on the big stage....what I didn't realise was he was outstanding in every way including my NEW ""Favourite moment"
It was still nil all and a fairly competitive game....approximately 10 minutes into the game, Folau brushed away Stewart and Lyon and got the ball away to a flying Steve Turner who set sail for the corner....he was only 8 metres out when Robbo dived full length to make a sensational bootlace tackle to save a try and Melbourne taking an early lead.
Yes Manly smashed em by 40 to zip, but an early try to shift momentum could have made it a far different outcome.
Anyways, thats my moment but with so many to choise, whats Silvertails take on personal fave moment of the 2008 Massacre??

kite "s try under the sticks seemed a real highlight , just a real indicator of a side right on top of their game , switched on and in brilliant form . Plenty of other great moments including Robbo 's try just after the break to keep the momentum going but the Kite touch down really one to relate to .

Beaver's try - it was like something out of the ultimate feel good movie - from vision of him jogging up the race with a trainer & his headgear off right through to the post-try celebration with Phil Gould's "imagine if he scores a try?" in the middle of it all.

Absolute magic.

PS Robbo gets an honourable mention for his netball pass to Beaver to score. Robbo could have just about fallen over the line & scored but very selflessly allowed Beaver to have an amazing end to his career at Manly.

Last time I watched it I was surprised by just how close the game was at half-time. It took us a while to get on top, but once we did the points kept coming. I was also surprised by how many conversion attempts we missed. Ox was clearly hampered with his kicking, so it wasn't until Matai stepped up and slotted one from the corner that I was confident we couldn't be run down. So that will go down as my favourite non-iconic moment.

Favourite iconic moment: Israel Falou's tears when he realised they'd been belted and his god had abandoned him.

@maxta ... here's the highlights to refresh memories ... and to salivate over .. got to love all the faithfull in the crowd ... what great scenes ..

Hmm... never even noticed it before, at 2m55 a classic late shoulder charge to the head of Matt Orford by dog shot specialist M Crocker! Everyone was just looking at robbo's try, the commentators didn't notice Slater's boots and I missed Crocker's foul too

Pretty sure he got all his talent playing in the backyard against his much stronger, faster and skillful twin bro 😉

You could tell Slater had accepted defeat when he stopped sliding in studs first as we kept scoring tries. Pretty sure the rule came in banning that very practice the following season. Typical Melbourne tactic: possibly within the laws of the game (as they were at the time) but a straight-up dangerous dog act that no other team would even think of trying.
