Disappointing that Manly only won one title in the Eighties and with so many competitive and strong sides during the decade but also do have some sympathy for Tigers fans during that time . No general empathy for the club but an illegal hit on their best player Elery Hanley to put him out of action for most of that G F against the Dogs in 88 and when they probably had the Dogs measure before the game. Then in 89 that desperate angle tap on Mick Neil by Meninga with the try line open to probably win the game and similarly with that missed field goal by Ben Ellies in extra time against the Raiders . Them are the breaks but again OH what could have been for Manly with their own opportunities to snag some more titles in the Eighties with some of their formidable sides then .
