I may get shot down but i think TG will do a good job as head of football and it makes me happy to see the Dogs lose him :)

There is no way that Toddy would have allowed the city country debacle in Coffs over the weekend. He knows to well the trouble that's Coffs Harbour can produce.

Des and Todd weren't compatible end of story.

I hate the the bought of a CEO who lied, stretched the truth, made secret deals with under contract staff and swept issues under the rug will. Ow be so senior in the nrl.

Their had better be some transparency with his dealings with the bulldogs, it has to be damn close to a conflict of interest going from his present job to this new role, I can't see how this guy of dodgy dealings won't favour the dogs

Just proves what iv always known. Greenturd is not capable of telling the truth. Lying slimy piece of ****. **** him!!

The new NRL executive structure will see the creation of seven business units reporting directly to Smith. These are football, finance, operations, corporate affairs and community, marketing, digital and content, commercial and strategy.

Good to see that we aren't getting top heavy, forgetting about the grass roots of footy.

That's a lot of cash going to 'admin' - hope it's all worth it.

Firstly I'm a Manly supporter of over 50 years of watching the great club strut its stuff.

But Unlike many I have nothing but respect for Des who took us to two premierships and three grandfinals and helped drag Manly from the potential abyss to being today one of the heavy weights. His timing was a little inappropriate but in leaving so quickly, and lets accept it was a business decision, he was allowing himself and Toovey time to take over the reins and at least allow some preparation time for the following year. And remember Toovey was always ear marked as heir apparent.

Same applies with Greenberg. We at Manly might hate him for grabbing Hasler and so many of our support coaching and recruitment staff and some players, but that's what a shrewd operator does. He has also built Canterbury back up from the scrap heap to be one of the heavy weights of the comp.

Quite frankly Greenberg is one smart operator and I thought it was a mistake when he was overlooked for the top league job, and still think that. But his recruitment now as head of football, is I think the first really smart move the League has done in a long time. Potentially he could be another Arko, and I know this might incite verbal violence and derogatory statements about my parents marital status when I was born, but I have to be detached here and think of the welfare of the game as a whole.

And dont forget that Greenberg's absence from Canterbury, may also weaken the dogs in future, if we must have a parochial slant on this.

All businesses need strong, focused pillars to exercise control. League is no different if it wants to grow and eventually survive without TV hand-outs.

Each of those units were already in the ARLC in one form or another, and all Smith looks to be doing is better structuring them in the organisation.

I like it and can see Smith dragging some of our age-old systems into the new century, opening up better opportunities for the code to grow, not just in the strongholds, but also expansion into new markets.

I remember reading an interview Todd did the other week when he put all the rumours to bed. He did the classic 'Des has my full support' type line and whaddaya know... Whenever you hear that, change is a'coming

May history repeat for the Great Manly Warringah Team as well

It will be interesting to see how things go at the NRL in the future - does Todd want the top job and will be willing to white ant Smith to get it?

Wonderful reading over at the Kennel!!

I am not at all surprised wiith this, lets face it De$ is almost "demonic" as a person and dealing with him would be a pain in the ar$e.

I thought we'd eventually get to a "well it's me or him" deal, just didn't think it would happen so quickly.

I hear you Bearfax, and you may be right, but doesn't mean we can't have a laugh at the Bulldogs expense whilst this is going on.

The improvement has been phenomenal.

I read that Greenturd takes up his new role in August.
He obviously knew the Dogs would not be in finals contention.

Could be a bit of a long bow to suggest the departure is all about Des

To being 1 of 16 bosses of a club, to being at the top of that heap overseeing them seems like a fair promotion for me, 1 that any CEO would probably take.

If he had gone to a different role that was a downgrade then maybe this angle being thrown around would have some credence

@[Kiwi Eagle] - would you please stop making such logical, rational posts. You are raining on our parade of throwing ****e at the Dogs!!!:D
