Not if its something that has been developing over a period of time, Rocky. We all have a limit. And the fact he said nothing besmirching about it does show professionalism. Money has nothing to do with it. You speak of money but he has already met his obligations, or will have by the end of the year. Contracts don't bond you indefinitely. And performance on the field is what this is all about, not what is said or unsaid. As I suggested if he's performance drops then, unless he is injured, he is not meeting his obligations and like any player has to face getting reprimanded or even sacked from captaincy or first grade. If he performs well for the rest of the year he has met his obligation and we should have no issue with him. If he contracts elsewhere it should have nothing to do with us.

Which doesn't mean he's not committed to player welfare, no doubt he is.

And I think most Manly fans agree with you that Daly is clearly pissed off about something, they (we) would rather he hadn't come out publicly about it in the way he did.

OK SER8 I checked and you're right about payment. But its an extra commitment on behalf of players in the game. What if he had given the news at the end of the season like many have done? What if he had told us all why he was leaving and was putting down the club? What if he had left supposedly on compassionate grounds to NZ like AFB and then came back to Australia a few years later to play for Cronulla. DCE gave no excuses. He just said what he intends to do.

Bozo and all that left who had such a high standing with the club and it's supporters did so with grace and dignity.
I'm starting to believe you regarding the coach, I've backed him and defended him, he's made a few good calls but I'm starting to believe he's a great PR man.. talks the talk and people believe him.. but he's not an NRL coach with tactical wit, a man manager able to bring out the best in players or a ruthless leader that has that winning coach respect.
But DCE and Mestrov being at fault for the whole DCE issue is not correct Bozo.. and you know it.

Honestly so what if he’s pissed about something , nothing will change , he’s checked out , and most of us have too ( on him ).

I wouldn’t be the slightest bit unhappy if the club announced he was signing with the Roosters and leaving immediately.

Our season is ****ed as it is , him leaving or staying will mean diddly squat.

He leaves , we’ll struggle big time.

He stays , we’ll implode internally

I think I’d rather struggle than watch the latter happen.

Lets focus on DCE's form since the announcement - its been terrible mate.

I do not believe that age is the reason . The QLD selectors do not believe this either as his Athletic body has held remarkably well .

I also do not believe he has checked out. Even though he has decided to leave for more money to better his family . He has also been part of his Manly family as well as a honorable Manly premiership winner and a Manly captain. Even he would have lost respect for senseless People like Mestrov we would not have lost the sense of pride in the Manly Jersey or the passion to win for Manly with his team mates . If the players were not behind him . He would not still be captain .
Our teams drop off form lies consistently with our teams inconsistent plays as in previous years
where the coach was unable to find a way to prevail from different types of adversities that become a challenge to a team .

The moral of the story
Players come and go , injuries, suspension etc happen , and they all starts with a distraction
But it is the Ability of a Great Motivating Mentor coach that inspires and lifts his players together winning in the right direction .
That is the difference between Great Head coach Mentors and the Mediocre ones

Grace and dignity, wow, this guy got an 8 year deal after he walked away in 2015 and we begged and scrapped and pleaded for him to stay, at the time it was a bad look and if our ownership at the time had had any guts they would have moved on from him.

If he decided in December that he was done, he should have said to the club, its over and announce it then before announcing it in round 3 knowing fully the impact it would have on the club. He had a chance to bow out with grace and dignity and he chose to wreck a season of promise and to this day he has not revealed what he is doing other than playing for our club. The club has moved on, now he needs to get it done! The fans have tolerated this for 6 weeks now and patience is running thin.

DCE is not now or will ever be bigger than this club!!

I'd happily see us blood Walsh now, I don't even care if he struggles. Give him the experience, if he flounders then sub in Jake Arthur til the end of the year. Move DCE on now, plug some holes in the salary cap, and focus on building a more competitive roster for 2026.

I was originally hoping for us to keep DCE until the end of the year but he's ruining our season by playing completely disinterested football.

For weeks and weeks all the chat is about him and what he is doing rather than on what the team is doing, its soo bloody tiring and this could have all been avoided. DCE knew exactly what he was doing on that Monday night interview on 9. We have won only 2 games since. The team is far from being together. The damage is done!

Being someone always suspicious of coincidences, I think it is increasingly likely that DCE is off to the Chooks and the delays are simply for bookkeeping so the NRL will register the deal.

Hence the need to ship out a couple of players, get the paperwork in order before they can do anything official.

Personally i wish they'd get a move on!
