Happy days dce took the limelight with his press conference which once again he made all about himself.
Ruined the good energy our team had at the start of the year all for himself.
After that presser his form has been very average and now he loses his spot in the qld team.
Funny how life works.
Against the knights he barely took a run preserving himself for his beloved maroons once again 😉 hahaha im so over him.

That's where the hate is coming from. I agree, it doesn't need to be hate but it's not hard to 'get' why its there.

I think he's been an excellent player for Manly for many years and I don't hate him, but he did crap all over the club, which showed an absolute lack of class. In the tribal world of professional sport, it's not hard to understand why that's upset a portion of the fan base.

I feel a bit sorry for him but he brought all of this on himself really.

If there is an issue between him & club admin, going on TV like he did was a really unprofessional way of handling it.

His mention of a smear campaign that never appeared makes it look like he (or his manager) was trying to start a public slanging match with the club in the hope of an early release. Again, very unprofessional.

Sad the way it’s turned out but I’m excited at seeing the next chapter without him.

I hated him for a couple of weeks but more because I felt betrayed by a player I have always defended in arguments with opposition supporters and someone I felt was a 'clubman'. I've come to terms with it now and like you, just feel disappointed. I'm not at the point where I'd be happy to see him win a comp somewhere else though

Bugger; I was hoping Billy would stick with him, as DCE playing Origin wouldn’t have cost us much with regards to our matchup with the Tits, but his omission from the hillbillies improves them with Deardon playing half.

I don't think we can assume that we can mail it in for any match this year and expect to win. We need DCE playing on Friday simply because he is better than the other options we have.

Could have bowed out graciously from representative and club land football. Gone out a legend of the game and the club.
Instead selfishly hanging on pushing his own agenda and any cost.
I found it really hard to come around to liking our captain after the breakup up of our successful squad in our golden years.
Personally, I only started to like him as a Manly man a couple years ago, though this confirms my intuition was right for many years.

The sooner he is gone the better. This is DCEs world and we are just living in it. The stats, the money and the centre of attention will always drive this man.

Funny, its 35 years ago now but history is repeating, kinda. Same 3 entities (Manly, Chooks, Qld), just different players.

We all know that DCE is off to the Chooks, right?? Its not been announced but its pretty much a given. And that Billy Slater's just dumped him both as Qld captain and from the team altogether.

1990 after he'd gone to the Chooks (though not his choice, he wanted to stay), a Qld legend as the coach (Arthur Beetson) dumped Fatty both as captain and from the team altogether after losing Game 1 of the Series (in truth he was always going to lose the (c) when Wally Lewis was passed fit, but like DCE he was dumped both as captain and from the team).

I've said it multiple times, he's a media whore, just about every one of his contracts has been played out in media making it all about him. He's never been a team player and doesn't give a **** if we lose players to accommodate him. He's an arogant self centre prick who's been holding the club for ransom threatening to leave if he doesn't get the dollars he wants.

We won a premiership in 2011 with him in the team, which was filled with star studded players with the likes of Lyon, Mattai, the Stewart bros, Watmough, Kite, Foran etc etc

So one premiership and nothing since, did we get our money's worth?

By going on TV and saying that he won't be playing for us anymore, despite NOT signing with another club and despite our offer of two years at $750k a season, he sort of intimated to the rest of the rugby league world that our club is a poisoned challice and he'd rather take his chances somehwere else, at 37 years of age, yeah right.
We all know it's bull$hit, everyone else knows it's bull$hit, but in these games he tends to play around contract time, he threw the club under a bus, a club where he has been the highest paid player for the past ten seasons, and a club where he would have ended up a legend, rather than a schmuck.
