Thanks @robbiea. Reports are that some Silvertailers have suffered soft tissue damage since the game. Prognosis is good for the redness to leave the eyes by mid week, with the possible return of a shiny sparkle by the weekend.@

I was positive before yesterday but my bubble has been burst.
A few things for me:

After all this time I still don't know what type of team we have under TBaz. For all the good coaches I can describe what a Bellyache, Bennett, Stuart, Des, even Brad Arthur team looks like. I cannot do so with our coach.

Home ground advantage is big for most teams and monstrous for us at Fortress Brookie. We lost a home game yesterday and there's no sense that this is a problem. Yep, Lottoland it is.

The continued faith in Api, Brown, Myles.

The lack of milliondollarness (you like?) in our half back - and I'm not convinced he's the right choice for Captain - ie inspiring leadership.

The seeming lack of understanding of how to nurture Tommy T.

Very, very, very happy to be wrong.
Keep the faith, we are here for the long haul not the short term gratification.

Good things come to those who wait!

I think it's also important what people have said that no one is saying we are going perfectly. Absolutely not. There are many areas to improve and there are some players that probably need to be flicked or need to stand up quickly.

So the tantrums over the last 24 hours have been quite spectator and oh so very entertaining.

There seems to be a very clear division between those, like myself, who saw some real positives yesterday amongst some areas that are in need of improvement. The people, whose view that we are a smokys for the top 8 is undiminished. I'd go as far as say that I feel more positive today about our season prospects than I did Sunday morning.

Then there are the opposite, such as Ralphie, Top End Eagle and Swoop (if you don’t mind me saying) who seem to believe we have not progressed at all from round 1 last year and that we are in for a year of struggle.

I’m not here to call each other names and I fully support and encourage everyone’s opinions and their right to voice them but at the same time both camps cannot be right. One group is level headed and can see reality clearly whilst the other group is either dreamy and wildly optimistic or negative and too quick to drop their bundle

So why don’t we put a line in the sand and then at the end of the season we can sit back and say “I TOLD YOU SO”

Vote in the poll above based on our coaching structure staying as is

I know nothing is black and white but option A represents a belief that this team shows promise, that we can make the top 8 (perhaps finishing 6-10th), that we are progressing. It is in no way a declaration that we are perfect but a thought that this season will be better than the last two

Option B is disheartened after yesterday’s effort. They love Manly as much as the rest of us but unfortunately do not see progress in the team and feel we are in for another season of struggle finishing (12-16th). They would love to be proven wrong but think there are one to many plodders in the team and that our coaching structure is dubious at best.

Who is willing to lay down a marker that can be revisited as seasons end?????

Bit of a loaded poll this. Whilst I can see the team getting better & better as the season progresses I don't think we will make the eight. I'd reckon we'd be similar to last year. Put me down for 10 to 12.

I've been on 12 since December, and I'm not changing !!!......yet

Loaded??

A says 6-10th, B 12-16th......did you read the first post??

This is an article from round 1 last year. Says a lot really.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 22-0 lead after 32 minutes, but the home side can take some positives out of the match after holding their opponents to a 6-all draw in the second half. Though you won't hear any excuses from Barrett.

"They had 60 per cent of the footy in the first half and I think it showed with the reduction of interchange, if you give a team that much possession it's going to be hard and you're going to run out of gas," Barrett said post-game.

"We didn't give ourselves a chance. Too many errors, we had four coming out of our own end. One area we wanted to be good in is in yardage and we gave them four pretty simple shots on our try-line.

"It put us under the pump and in the end we had no energy and it was pretty evident in some of the attacking plays that we came up with. We looked tired, looked lethargic and it was just off the back of the weight of possession [against us].

"There's no hiding from the fact that it was a bit of a wake-up call for us. We'll cop that, it's a tough competition and we'll have to aim up again next week."

and wasn't concerned by possible match review charges to Martin Taupau (shoulder charge)

The way I see this TB is only a small reason why we are in this position.

I truly believe that only until certain upper management figures leave this club we won't be moving anywhere from the bottom of the table.

But those figures in management positions have way to much influence at the moment so nothing will be done.

As for this year I said at the start of the season 10-13 th place finish and I am sticking by this. I think we are in for another long season..Sadly we are now a basket case and we are becoming the laughing stock of other clubs, mind you the NRL are loving this and are doing everything in their power to see us stay like this.

Just look at our draw coming up in the next few rounds

Souths H, Cowboys A, Dogs H, Roosters A, Dragons H, Storm H and Raiders A.

We don't win at least 2 of them our season is gone already before it has started.

I will not be giving up on this club and team I love, will go to as many home and away games as possible but I am also a realist and don't like where we are heading for this season.

There really isn't much wrong with our squad. The problem is the selection of a few poor players and the absence of a coherent game plan. This squad in the hands of Hasler or Cleary would be a certain top 8 team.

Our current on field performance has zero to do with the Management of the club, but I guess that's not the Silvertails party line these days.

No tantrums here but I have 3 main concerns and they are our hooker, forwards and leadership. Firstly you already know my thoughts on Api, my preference would of been to keep Parcell.

Secondly can someone tell me who was in charge out there yesterday? It's time some of our highly paid players take charge and I'm pointing directly at DCE who should be doing what Norman did, what great halfbacks do aka Thurston, Cronk etc.

DCE was QLD's backup halfback two years ago but has slipped below all 3 mentioned above and is also behind Hunt and Milford.

3rdly, our pack needs more punch and letting Vave go (who provided plenty of go forward and offloads) is another mistake. That will change a bit when Lussick returns providing he has a season like 2016.

This is what I posted last week and it's just as relevant this week. To the "I told you so crowd" I don't want to be smug because I hate losing but I told you so.

The other thing is we have a coach who has no idea. Didn't see much of a game plan out there.

DCE is a myth at the moment. He's the highest paid halfback in the NRL who is not a goal kicker or a leader.

BOZO was given too much power and they are trying to reign him in, which will start a factional war within the club. **** ME!

I just want to say to bozo (forum member ) thank you for being our postive presence in time of abuse. We have a real footy team here

if we end up 12-16 something else is going on - the team, coach etc have shown they are better than that in the last 3 games and round 1.

Still going to battle it out for the bottom half of the 8 imo but this team is improving week on week and thats all anyone can ask. But then again tonight we beat a genuine top 4 prospect, confidence goes a long way.

The next test is how we bounce back once we lose our next game.

You're tipping us to lose our next game? Poor form Fluffy

I meant the next game we lose as i don't think we will win all the remaining games this year.

In saying that the queens are also playing well as a team an along with us the 2 teams that have surprised the most early in the year. They will be far from easybeats, most of us penciled this one in as a win but we will need to play good footy to beat them.
