I bet the lurker story today wasn't leaked by Peter Peters. After the infamous Barrett media circus on 18 April 2018 when IMO Barrett threw Hastings under the bus I believed that players would no longer trust him because he had turned on one of the playing group in front of the media notwithstanding that Hastings may have been troublesome and different. I can't recall another coach ever doing that before not to that extent anyway. Unsurprisingly stories have since emerged of a divided playing group with Hastings receiving some support from part of the playing group and not from some of the stars such as Jake and Tom who have both come out in the media voicing their support for Barrett and DCE. Lane has signed with Parramatta and it appears that Marty has had enough. IMO the Hastings incident is only a symptom of the core problem which is still ripping our team apart. IMO Barrett is certainly a big part of that core problem. Watching the team this year during our 11 losses from 15 starts we have looked like a very poorly coached side lacking structure and discipline. Cartwright is talking to Parramatta and must have decided he cant help the sinking ship or perhaps that his help is not wanted. Mr Penn its time for action before this club is nothing but a stinking carcass. Just clearing out some of the players is not going to fix the problem. The priority is to get real seasoned coach in the saddle now and show Trent Barrett the door and appoint Jake captain so that DCE can just concentrate on him own game and sticking to the new coach's game plan.

My idea is stories like these start to build when teams are not performing to expectations , up to standards and are up to consecutive losses . This spiral trend of events don't lead to anything good unless things start changing

Like you said if the team isn't winning these stories tend to build. No one is going to be happy at a losing club and add to that the salary cap drama and players potentially losing already established TPAs and then the media putting the boot in and treating rumors like fact at every possible opportunity.
The only way to fix things is to start winning again.

Classic Lurker.

Catchy headline followed by the shocking news that Barrett has lost the playing group, followed by an unrelated comment about him and Marty who is apparently looking to walk away from the heavily back ended part of his contract, followed by some more anonymous filler which gets back to the original point of the post, followed by a sentence in quotation marks to give the general appearance of it being a legitimate quote. Brilliant!
