The resurrection of Brian .. (The International)

Actually, I was editing that at the time you replied.

Good night....and God bless you and everyone in your life! @:)
You too. I never debated or questioned the worth of what has been achieved in the name of someone who was a truly remarkable human. It is because of Christianity that the world finds itself in a place where we can have discussion like this. But I can't wrap my head around a religion in this time and place being the one that is true just because of where and when you were born. I'm not an atheist. I also have a degree in biology and the natural world and relationships in that do my head in so much I'd happily go - yeah that dude turned water into wine - than think about how a caterpillar evolved to live inside a weaver ants colony supplying it with silk so they can make their nest in return and protect it until it becomes a moth but only for so long that it can get knocked up and then come back to the nest and be eaten after it lays the new little caterpillars.

Life's not meant to be understood. It's like a cliffy Lyons foray into the defensive line. You never know what's going to happen but most of the time it's good and sometimes it's ducking amazing.

Poor Brian , **** I hope he’s not reading all this stuff!!
I hope he'd take the attention as a compliment, but in a very very roundabout way.
Someone mentioned earlier, may have been you Mark, that the players do read this forum.
That surprises me a bit but if they get on twitter as some seem addicted to they would be up for it I suppose.
Anyway I'm a Kelly fan and think he improved on last season and will improve on this season.
He's young.
Wait....
What am I discussing Brian on this thread for that's for the........
I'm confused.

I don’t know about the current crop but I assure you the 2007-2011 ones did!!

I think the millennials are more into Instagram!

But you can be assured the club certainly does !!

Hi Cuzzo!!!!

A debate on Sky Fairies is always interesting, and sometimes very funny ( watching the two sides rip each other a new one).

But I’m still mystified as to how German lessons got in there!!
Pretty sure two people were involved but I'm not going to drop anyone in it.
It's against my nature.

@Wombat64 @Stronger2gether...

Study history and Jesus. Not religion. People don't seem to be able to grasp that there is a massive difference between Jesus and religion/church history. They implore each other to study, research and see the truth for themselves...but they never truly get what Jesus taught.

One of the biggest problems is religion’s misuse of the Law. This has done tremendous damage to God’s image. The Law came by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17). The Law wasn’t inaccurate but incomplete. And if it is not properly applied, it gives a wrong representation of God.

Jesus was the perfect representation of God (Heb. 1:3). He said if we have seen Him, then we have seen the Father (John 14:9). He did exactly what He saw His Father do (John 5:19). Jesus showed us that God is love (1 John 4:8). Yet He was constantly accused of breaking the Law.

Of course, Jesus didn’t break the Law. He’s the only One who ever truly kept the Law. But the mercy and grace Jesus extended toward people was radically different from the “eye for eye” and “tooth for tooth” of the Old Testament Law.

Jesus forgave a woman whom the Law condemned to death (John 8:1-11). Jesus ate and fellowshipped with publicans and sinners, which the legalistic Jews of His day wouldn’t do (Matt. 9:11). Jesus touched the untouchable (Matt. 8:3) and loved the unlovable (Luke 8:2). He showed us grace and mercy, which the Old Testament Law didn’t do.

A wrong understanding of the purpose of the Old Testament Law leads to a misunderstanding of the nature of God. Most people believe God gave the Law to show us what we needed to do to obtain relationship with Him. But the Law was never intended to bring us into relationship with our heavenly Father. It was intended to show us our sin and our need for God. It was given to show us how unholy we were so we would despair of trying to earn salvation and just receive it as a gift by faith. It was to turn us from self-righteousness to a faith-righteousness that could only come through a Savior (Rom. 10:3-4).

Not once did Jesus ever ask for a large building to be built so he could be honored and controlling. That was mans effort and plan. Your putting mans lust for power and control on Jesus unjustly. He never wanted that.

@:p
Perfectly stated @mozgrame. It’s so refreshing to read something written by a person who clearly understands grace...it is truly an amazing thing. We live in an age where evil is called good and good is called evil. The message of grace is being changed and corrupted in every way imaginable... thanks for sharing a rare and accurate account about what grace really is.

Christianity has very little to do with where you're born. It constantly moves all over the world. A couple of years ago...China was the fastest growing christian centre.

That's not really what I'm talking about however. My original point in the other thread was that Jesus was a real living soul. Not a mythical being. Not an imaginary superhero. (please understand, mate....I'm not being aggressive with that, just making a point....I know you're aware of his reality...but you did call him that @;))

So...we know that he was an actual living being, and that he turned the world (his world...where he lived and taught) on its head with the way he treated everyone with equal love. That was unheard of back then. Lepers were shunned, women stoned etc. Jesus stood against that. (I know that still happens, but we also know that we aren't following what he tried to teach us). Courageous in itself! Could you imagine him being here today? It would be good, yeah? Well, if you can't imagine him being here today, in bodily form....can you imagine a world where everyone followed what he taught? Love, forgiveness, equality, doing the best you can for your fellow man.

The church has been responsible for many atrocities over the years....but not by the orders of Jesus. By the decisions of corrupt men, falsely claiming to represent God.

I can understand peoples distrust in the church. I'm one of them! I do not think the modern day church is teaching the message. I would not recommend anyone to follow any church. Dig deeper than the church. Get to the source. Once you find it..try to follow the teachings. People seem to think christians regard themselves as some sort of superior being. Perhaps the fake ones do....but a true follower of Jesus is nothing of the sort. They are quiet, respectful, gentle, giving people that want nothing more than to help others at every opportunity. I know many people of all nationalities like this, including many aboriginal families I grew up with around Baralaba/Woorabinda and I have huge admiration for them...probably because I'm not like that...but I'd like to be! I think the world would be a better place with more like them.

True followers of Jesus are not that concerned with the world being in the state that it is right now. They know that it has to be this way due to the end of times. Just like other biblical prophecies have come to pass...they believe worse is yet to come for us.

I love your Cliffy analogy! Spot on!! Followers of Jesus are the same. They have no idea what will happen from day to day, nor do they care. They just try to do their best by everyone, everyday. That's true followers..not the fake "sunday specials", and there are plenty of those.

At the end of the day...no one is forcing anyone to follow Christ. We have free will to weigh up the evidence and choose for ourselves. God will not drag you into heaven kicking and screaming if you don't believe. If you choose to not believe..that's fine! But to ridicule or belittle others for trying to follow his teachings...and trying to make the people around them as happy and loved as possible, is a little sad in my opinion.

Ashamedly...I am not the follower I'd like to be...but the deeper I research and the more honest I am with myself and my findings...the more it seems like not a bad way to live your life.

I was just asking @Stronger2gether what heir @Woodsie meant? I still don't get it what was meant by it? But on a better point at least I now know that the PPC is the Power Puff Crew. Why are they the PPC? Well again I don't know what a power puff crew is either but it sounds fun.

"This apocalyptic event will bring what Christians call “the rapture” — where all Christian believers (living and dead) will rise into the sky and join Christ"

Good, no more arseholes knocking on my door at 8am on a Sunday morning!

If a Silvertail's gathering was organized , would it be permissible for Silvertails attendees to be able to wear different poster name tags at various times and be able to change them at various stages of the occasion to add some extra intrigue to the event . Some of us with fairly recent poster captions may experience some difficulties and impersonating other posters may not go over that well , Anyway just pure levity on my part and with suggestions here but any type of a proposed Silvertail"s gathering is certainly an interesting concept . And to think that this all started with some general comments on the Life of Brian .

@Woodsie by resurrecting this thread are you inferring that Kelly walks on water and may possibly be Manly's next immortal? Because that's a bit rich.

Not really .... just creating a vehicle and environment, free of selfies and mullets, where "sensible" people can exchange considered views on the big issues of Salad eating, the existence of God, and the value of the Germanic languages in the expression of Rugby League opinions ..... Brian has become a symbol of persecution, unique in that his oppressors are the minority faction .....
