The resurrection of Brian .. (The International)

Christianity has very little to do with where you're born. It constantly moves all over the world. A couple of years ago...China was the fastest growing christian centre.

That's not really what I'm talking about however. My original point in the other thread was that Jesus was a real living soul. Not a mythical being. Not an imaginary superhero. (please understand, mate....I'm not being aggressive with that, just making a point....I know you're aware of his reality...but you did call him that @;))

So...we know that he was an actual living being, and that he turned the world (his world...where he lived and taught) on its head with the way he treated everyone with equal love. That was unheard of back then. Lepers were shunned, women stoned etc. Jesus stood against that. (I know that still happens, but we also know that we aren't following what he tried to teach us). Courageous in itself! Could you imagine him being here today? It would be good, yeah? Well, if you can't imagine him being here today, in bodily form....can you imagine a world where everyone followed what he taught? Love, forgiveness, equality, doing the best you can for your fellow man.

The church has been responsible for many atrocities over the years....but not by the orders of Jesus. By the decisions of corrupt men, falsely claiming to represent God.

I can understand peoples distrust in the church. I'm one of them! I do not think the modern day church is teaching the message. I would not recommend anyone to follow any church. Dig deeper than the church. Get to the source. Once you find it..try to follow the teachings. People seem to think christians regard themselves as some sort of superior being. Perhaps the fake ones do....but a true follower of Jesus is nothing of the sort. They are quiet, respectful, gentle, giving people that want nothing more than to help others at every opportunity. I know many people of all nationalities like this, including many aboriginal families I grew up with around Baralaba/Woorabinda and I have huge admiration for them...probably because I'm not like that...but I'd like to be! I think the world would be a better place with more like them.

True followers of Jesus are not that concerned with the world being in the state that it is right now. They know that it has to be this way due to the end of times. Just like other biblical prophecies have come to pass...they believe worse is yet to come for us.

I love your Cliffy analogy! Spot on!! Followers of Jesus are the same. They have no idea what will happen from day to day, nor do they care. They just try to do their best by everyone, everyday. That's true followers..not the fake "sunday specials", and there are plenty of those.

At the end of the day...no one is forcing anyone to follow Christ. We have free will to weigh up the evidence and choose for ourselves. God will not drag you into heaven kicking and screaming if you don't believe. If you choose to not believe..that's fine! But to ridicule or belittle others for trying to follow his teachings...and trying to make the people around them as happy and loved as possible, is a little sad in my opinion.

Ashamedly...I am not the follower I'd like to be...but the deeper I research and the more honest I am with myself and my findings...the more it seems like not a bad way to live your life.
Am I right in assuming that the key to your belief system is that there is an afterlife ??

I’m probably closer to an atheist than a god lover but here’s my basic take.

There probably was a guy 2000 years ago who preached some feel good stuff and did kind things.

But during the course of time his deeds have been exaggerated ( greatly) and his followers expanded on the whole “ Sky fairy “ thing that’s been handed down over the years and further exaggerated!

We now supposedly have heaven, hell, afterlife and a whole other bunch of absolute crap.

There was also a guy called Moses who came up with 10 pretty good ideas to run your life with.

I like Moses ideas and have run my life based on those 10 “ commandments “ and I think if we all did the world would be a much better place.

But as to the rest of the bible bashing, preaching , different religious slants etc etc it’s my opinion the world would be a far far better place WITHOUT THEM ALL!!

To all you god farers, good luck to you I don’t condem you personally for rolling up , donating 10% of your salary and singing **** songs every Sunday ( or Saturday or Friday for another) but that ain’t me!!

Oh, and I don’t speak German!!!

Not really .... just creating a vehicle and environment, free of selfies and mullets, where "sensible" people can exchange considered views on the big issues of Salad eating, the existence of God, and the value of the Germanic languages in the expression of Rugby League opinions ..... Brian has become a symbol of persecution, unique in that his oppressors are the minority faction .....
You lost me at sensible people.
Inverted commas or not...

That sounds suspiciously like Buddhism, which I find to be a very noble and peaceful state of mind.

Really? Because this is # 1:

“I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt not have any strange gods before Me.”

Pwned!

I inadvertently stuck this in the Brian Kelly thread after a comment on the arrival of a troublesome red cow, but in hindsight, it probably belongs in this thread...

And that pretty much sums up humanity. Misconstruing a 2000 year old fairytale, offering up a poor innocent calf as a sacrifice to build another fukcing temple that will no doubt be built in Palestine to continue the cycle of bloodshed. All because of a red cow!

FMD, our descendants 300 years from now are going to look back at us with incredulous bemusement, disdain and contempt.

"This apocalyptic event will bring what Christians call “the rapture” — where all Christian believers (living and dead) will rise into the sky and join Christ"

Good, no more arseholes knocking on my door at 8am on a Sunday morning!
They’d be Mormons or Jehovas Witnessess doing the knocking.

From what I’ve read on this thread, there appears to be a sum total of two people who claim to believe in Jesus that might be able to be connected to your God farers statement... aaand from what i’ve Read neither of us are big on singing songs on Sundays, or handing over 10% of our cash to some bloke in a suit who bangs on about God blessing us all with riches and good health. Grace however... if you had of said.... To you two blokes who believe in grace and Jesus...a free gift for anyone who wants it... that comes without any requirements of having to attend a church... what you two blokes are talking about is not for me. Now that my friend, that would be a more accurate summary of your current displeasure.

The problem is a fair percentage of us are QLD based so it would mean a trip to Sydney for a gathering.

OR

We have two, one in Sydney and one in Brisbane for one of the away games.

Let’s see what happens with the draw, I’m going to be away for most of next season apart from about the first month of the Comp but that doesn’t mean I can’t start the ball rolling!!
I'm in, just let us know

Mate I've always been intrigued about how the hell Noah would've managed to get 2 of brown snakes, scorpions, funnel webs and inland taipans into that alleged boat of his.
