The Rumour that we hear everywhere

I remember a period when the club provided a conduit to Silvertails' posters to pose questions to players and officials.
I'd love that same opportunity again.
That was before the Penn coup of 2014.

As we all understand, hardly likely to happen in the ‘wall to wall Mr Fluffy era’.

I think it’s pretty obvious to most that next year is going to be a developmental season regardless of who the coach is so i’ll write it off early in terms of premiership chances.

Jake + Tom are legends but of course them taking $2million of cap space is going to take its toll again. Jake is playing 70-80 minutes a game & has averaged 49 run metres per game this year. Turbo has shown with his defensive efforts that he is close to done.

I wouldn’t extend either of them until at least half way through next season, not like anyone is going to come knocking…
Yeah upon much thought on this lately, I feel Manly will be in a much stronger position moving forward if 2026 is both Jake and Tom's final year.

They should be parachuted into our coaching and pathways department where they would be invaluable to the club for many many years to come.

But their time on the park is almost done.

I posted several weeks ago that Seibold would coach in 2026, with Ennis made a full time assistant coach before taking over in 2027. Seibold to football manager or some such head office role created by himself. Looks more likely by the day. If we lose our first 10 games, Ennis to take over immediately. I can see us being burdened with Seibolds presence well into the future. What has Seibold done to deserve such preferential treatment? Nothing that I can see. The guy is an absolute myth who keeps getting gifted opportunities and second chances for no apparent reason.

So much for a results driven business. Sure, there are excuses, but the pride jersey fiasco wasn’t a legitimate excuse when sacking Des, so why the hypocrisy now?

We can write off 2026 already. Good times.
‘The Manly Way’ process is just part of a feather-bedding strategy for a bunch of un-Manly people. A raft of outsider grifters like Seiblob, Gentle, Bonisera* and co.

Scott Penn was already leading the way, before fellow grifter Seiblob came along and gave it a name.

*Meanwhile the best football manager in the business is a Manly junior, working for Melbourne.

If next year is a developmental season. Which I agree it should be. Then we also need to ensure that we have the right coaching team in place to get the process off to the best start possible.nwhats the point in wasting another year on a coach who won't be here long-term?
Maybe the plan is for Ennis to have a far greater role next year before fully taking over the following.
Can understand the logic - not convinced it'll work

Jake and Tom are both done, yes absolutely they are club legends but....... just a waste of spots going into 2026.
According to the SMH they are both on back ended deals worth $1.2m each next season. In 2026 22% of our cap will be on older under performing Urbo brothers. With that money they aren't going anywhere in 2026. We just have to hope they have a total body transformation in the off season.

But but but... I thought they live and breathe Manly?!

Very depressing.

What a **** show.

I thought Greenturd outlawed backended contracts. Were the Turbos signed up on their current deal before that?
They changed the rule in 2018,but it was changed to stop teams from paying below market value for the first year of the contract. So in essence,if a player is said to be worth a million with the NRL’s idea of market value,a team can’t pay $500K for the first year and $1.5 million the last year, just an example.Whilst the Trbjovic’s will get a pay rise next year,it’s not exactly a massive increase that cripples the cap.If there’s any issues,it has more to do with what the club has done with the rest of the cap

If we have similar injuries next year, we are screwed.

What is it, we have 21 players signed for next year or something? At this point last year, we probably had about 26-27 for this year.

I just hope they pull their heads in, and recognise that we are half a decade from a premiership. Invest in development. That should ideally start this week.

What a bunch of crapola. So according to your youthful wisdom if Tom and Jake both play and take 2 million out of the cap our season is over? Let's say they are worth a combined 1.2 million on current form. That means we are paying $800 000 too much. If we go by your assessment any side who loses a player for the season valued at around that amount is finished for the year.

Not to mention a new coach might reduce Jakes minutes and play him at prop. Turbo is still a very good player and writing him off now is both premature and naive.

Doesn't really matter what they are worth the club is limited to how many players it can sign snd must use 95% of their cap allowance. Therefore like all clubs that are battlers, like us, have to pay overs for a few players.

I for one would rather see Tom and Jake getting the fat than Brooks, Saab, Waddell and others.

It was mentioned tonight on NRL360 that certain senior players do not see eye to eye with Seibold coaching methods.
They said this goes back to last year.

No names mentioned and was all sort of, we have all heard these rumours.

They basically said, what will change next year as Seibold won't change his coaching philosophy. Pessimistic about Manly next year completely.

It’s certainly a **** show. I just can’t understand why the club is backing Seibold given 1. He has clearly got the playing group offside and 2. He himself said he wants to quit coaching at the end of 2026.

Why are we planning to waste another year with a coach who has no long term future and who has fractured the playing group? Crazy stuff, especially given the limited shelf life of Turbo - are we seriously planning to waste one of the few years he has left at the top?

The players could be correct with their respective views however what is most alarming is this seasons individual performances on the field of the senior players, their performances have seen them not selected for state of origin or dropped after one appearance due to a poor performance.

I could get on board with this view if the players were performing on the field, these individuals should have their entire focus on their performances and the teams performance on the field and their voices would carry more merit.

I think the club is saying, publicly, all they can say. They can’t come out and declare Seibold won’t be there next year due to legal/payout ramifications and especially,at the time Penn was interviewed, when the team was still in the finals hunt.I think at this point in time, fans need to sit back and wait til season’s end because I think it’ll all come to a head then
