It would definitely appear that 2016 is the Year of the Broken Drought in professional sports.
The Western Bulldogs won their first premiership in the AFL since 1954 (and only their second ever).
Cronulla won their first ever premiership since joining the then NSWRFL in 1967.
And in baseball's World Series.....
The Chicago Cubs are playing the Cleveland Indians.
The Indians haven't won a World Series since 1948, though they did play in the 1954, 1995 and 1997 World Series.
The Cubs? Hell, they haven't won a World Series since 1908. The last time they even played in the World Series was 1945.
Game 7 of the best of 7 World Series is played today. One of the two longest droughts in Major League history will be broken today.
Thank God North Sydney are not playing in the NRL lol.
