Tom needs to follow and do what DCE does.
DCE is a freak and still the fittest in the club at 34.

In fact the whole first grade squad could learn from DCE.

DCE sets a very high standard in aerobic fitness

Jason Taylor played about 180 games straight

its about how they play. While DCE has waaay more skills than JT there styles are very similar. Tom takes a lot of body impact. His style is robust while DCE is elusive

tom pushes through the line , taking defenders with him , where DCE tends to collapse at the line. He has shown some desire to improve in this area

not much shoulder in his defence where many halves have a wicked little hit under the belt

not bagging him , just offering reasons as to why he avoids injury. Its his style.

not a guy that gets a lot of strains either, that is hell freakish though
doesnt look to overdo the gym work either.

very durable athlete . Seems to be maturing in qld, and growing into that role. We need some of that now

The thing that people forget is a player doesn’t go out with the intention of getting a season injury.

Yeah Tommy is a bit of a tissue , and that in itself is an issue for us , but he’d be just as frustrated as we are.
Took the words right out of my mouth Mark. What frustrates me is how quickly we turn on our own and like you said ,he doesn't go out there to deliberately get injured and yes it would be hurting him as well, big-time

What about Jake and Ben?

Just starting this thread without a care in the world to his two brothers shows how heartless you are 🤣
Now I'm curious, has their ever been in any sport played by 3 siblings when all 3 are out injured at the same time ?
May need @HoldenV8 skills on that one.

Having an elongated neck probably helps as well, it's like tackling a giraffe. lol

Not to be contrary but I think Tom’s issue is his physiology. By all accounts he is a very professional trainer and works extremely hard to rehab his injuries. Some people are just born and/or develop in ways that are susceptible to injury. I can think of a few occasions over the years where DCE has been bent out of shape in a tackle that would see most players tear in half and he just gets back up. He’s just so durable.

Cam Smith is another; played over 400 games. These two guys are no more or less exposed to the dangers of injury than Tom, but their bodies hold up. These guys are blessed with physical attributes that Tom doesn’t have.

Did you see the tackle that DCE did on Crichton and the tackle Turbo did to tear his pec.
Quite similar where both had to raise their arms above their shoulder and wrap around the guy they were tackling.

How can Tom tear his pec on that tackle?
What have the training staff been doing Tom?? Fuk all or nothing?

Can't wait to see you back in the maroon and white.

Go Manly

(Please post any negative comments in another thread, I don't want to read them, I will activate the ignore function).
Class

No one goes out to get injured, he is a top fella, I know because of an interaction he had with my son a few weeks ago.

These people making comments about loyalty and off loading him… I struggle to think they are supporters. And or believe they are grown men and women

Has there been any official confirmation of the extent of the injury. I’m asking for a friend?
Late Mail in the Telegraph confirms he's farked:

Manly have opened talks with the NRL over salary cap dispensation for Tom Trbojevic after scans confirmed that the club’s talismanic fullback and highest paid player had torn his pectoral muscle.

Trbojevic flew home from Brisbane early on Thursday morning and underwent scans later in the day, the results revealing that he had suffered a tear rather than a milder strain in the opening minutes of the second State of Origin game.

The worst case would be the end of Trbojevic’s season and while Manly hold out hope that won’t be the case, they have begun contingency planning just in case.

News Corp understands informal talks have already been held over whether the club can access salary cap relief under the rule which was brought in five years ago around representative football.

Manly may be able to access up to $350,000 which they can put towards signing a player for the remainder of the season on the proviso that Trbojevic is ruled out for a minimum of 12 weeks.

The Sea Eagles will know more once Trbojevic visits a specialist on Friday morning, although a long stint on the sidelines appears a formality.

Even with a significant amount of money at their disposal, Manly will find Trbojevic irreplaceable, something players and officials recognised on Thursday as they came to grips with the prospect of his long-term absence.

Manly skipper Daly Cherry-Evans said it was impossible not to let his mind drift to the Sea Eagles even during play on Wednesday night.

“My heart stinks straight away,” Cherry-Evans said.

“Even out there in the heat of it I thought straight away ‘oh no I hope this isn’t bad’. I’ve got my fingers crossed. He is a big part of our club.”

Unfortunately for the Sea Eagles they have become all too used to playing without their marquee man in recent seasons. He has not played more than 20 games in a season since 2018 with his career now punctuated by a string of long-term injuries.

“It’s a huge loss,” Cherry-Evans said.

“We all know how important he is to our club. He is one of the best players in the competition. Our group needs to worry who is in our team, not who isn’t in our team.

“That’s hard to do sometimes when it’s such a key player but if we want to go far this year and make finals.

“We can sympathise with our teammate but we need to look at how we can play well. That’s the mentality that’s needed.”

The Sea Eagles sit one point outside the top eight. The fullback role is expected to be given to youngster Kaeo Weekes at least in the short-term with the Sea Eagles taking on Melbourne on Saturday night. They have alternatives in Reuben Garrick and Tolu Koula.

“Kaeo is going to play this weekend,” Cherry-Evans said.

“He has had his opportunity in the last couple of weeks. We need K to stand up and go to another level. He has had a bit of introduction to first grade.

“He is one part of our team but he is an important part of our team. He needs to go to another level and I know he has got it in him.”

Tommy will be down no doubt about it , he will be hurting more than the fans but one for thing for sure and there’s doubt about it either , Tom will fight back do what he has to and come back again
Some players get injured more than others it’s just the way it is , As fans we hate it he is a big part of the team
I’ll back him to make it back and hope then he stays injury free

Agreed. Forget the money he's paid for a minute and think about everything Tom has gone through in his career already. Injury after injury, a ****-ton of painful rehab. But he keeps getting through it and putting his hand up for more. That takes a whole lot of courage and mental strength. The easy way out would be to throw his hands up in the air and say, "Bugger it! Maybe I'm not cut out for this." That he hasn't done that is worth our respect.

Get well soon Tommy. Can understand people’s frustrations with last night. That’s because we love the club and always will. The emotion comes from a good place but gets misguided and personal at times which can be a bit out of order. All of us would have been gutted last night for the club and Tom. Sone dont always contain it well.

Get well soon Tommy and come back better than ever. In the meantime, mr Weekes you are next man up. Make the club proud!

30K for two minutes yesterday. Some people work a year for that.
