Tom Trbojevic was a Legend

I get the whole not playing for the coach thing BUT why aren't they playing for themselves or the fans? FFS, it's their fxcking job that they get well paid for. There are plenty of other reasons to play than just the coach...... This comment not directed at you or your comment but just a general question about the often used "not playing for the coach" excuse
While I agree with the sentiment but let's be real. How does the average Joe feel when their manager or boss is just a total tool and they do all the work and the boss reaps the rewards? Pretty angry id say. There are 20 or so grown men in our team who can put in this year and save Seibold for another 12 months of the same mediocre crap. They know he has no idea, they know hes not the man to take them to the promised land, they know he has to go... do they make the 8 in a wimper and save him OR do they play a strategic role and have the guy removed and get a new start on 2026. Looking at Seibolds history where would you fall if it were you?

Sorry, EOL, I’m with Wombat on this one. That’s just a popular fan myth trotted out when a club is doing poorly. If you can’t lift yourself to put your best foot forward for your own pride, your own self-respect, and for your team mates (regardless of the clown running the joint), then you are probably not being true to yourself. Leave and find something better suited to your life path.

Or, are we happy for mercenaries lying to themselves and their team, club, and fans, to build a team around?

I dont think its that black and white for footy players. Its a group thing like in the armed forces. As a collective they just need to be down 5 or 10% for it to make a huge difference.
Its an age old saying that for the right general, soldiers will run through brick walls and its as true for coaches.

Personally I feel its a hard trick to follow someone like DES with all the success and history with the club. Seibold was on a hiding to nothing from day 1 unless he came in and made a huge upswing in the club (Which he didn't). We missed finals in his first year, were ok in his second and well this year lets not talk about that too much....He has a history of Failure so why did we expect anything else....

So lets be honest. As a playing group who probably feel let down by the Owner, CEO and Coach do they put in 100% and save a guy who SHOULDN'T have the job for another year of let's close our eyes and hope or let's get someone in thats new and have the same if not a better chance next year.

As a DCE supporter if im being honest to myself did DCE's announcement hurt our season? Of course it did but not for the obvious reason so many sprout off about.... What it did was lift the hood on issues in the club that for the average footy player matter.... If our club was willing to sacrifice the club captain and rep player without too much thought then what will they do to the rest of us? DCE is who he is sure, Not a players player out on the piss as per the old guard (which is why the QLD legends didn't take to him) but he at least deserved a better offer first up when negotiations started, not a half arsed offer on NRL 360 when the barn was already alight. If the club had have said look, you ain't worth 1.2 but here's an offer of 800k per season for 2 years and then a job on the coaching team moving forward I think he would have been signed sealed and delivered. Instead they DIDNT offer a deal at all and said "yeah go to market and let us know if you have any luck then we might offer a number".... THATS A **** THING TO DO by Mestrov and co.

So to wind it up back at the original point, I do believe the group has checked out and Seibold has lost the dressing room.

The average bloke doesn't run out to thousands of fans very week and get paid very well for doing it.

Can Tom play in the middle next year?

He luvs doing one off hit ups on 4th tackle

He is a big enough body to play Prop
😁

Did you want the club to offer DCE a further two-year contract, for 2026 and 2027?
Thank goodness they didn't. For once the club showed vision. Yes, up to 2025 DCE had been one of Manly's greats, gaining my full admiration. But age had caught up with him, and he was blocking the path of hopeful replacements (Humphreys amonst them). If DCE had quietly signed with Easts and played out this season for us he would not have sullied his reputation and made the final year for Manly so painful for fans. We would have cheered his 350th appearance, fully understanding that while Manly thought him too old to play productively for another season, Easts didn't.
But no. DCE announces unilaterally he is leaving. He created this mess, and Seibold is prolonging it by continuing to pick players that don't deserve a First Grade spot. This pair has seriously ruined my love of Manly -- a love that stretches back to the early 1960s. My forlorn hope was that I would see some new young faces on the team sheet this week. Na. Seibold has no vision. I doubt even Specsavers would be able to help him.

He still thinks we are going to win the next 3 games and make the eight..😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂🤣😂😂🤣😂😂🤣😂

When Tom let in a couple of tries against the Tigers I wondered to myself what the great Wombat would have been thinking. Disappointing and frankly embarrassing efforts. I still hold out hope that Tom still has some top level footy in him, but it’s more on faith than logic. If anyone watched the Dolphins/Broncos, the phins back up fullback Trey Fuller had yet another blinder when filling in. Not sure his defence is any better than Toms at the moment, but boy, electric in attack. Can’t believe he is happy to remain largely anonymous in reserves. Would take him over Tom at the moment without question.

Tom needs the burst of speed to be destructive and he has lost it. He’s still a smart footballer and can be effective, but that’s not the same thing as destructive.
and he needs a good half back (and /8), that play to a plan but can quickly take advantage of opportunities when they present and a permanent 9 that gives good service and can defend, I believe Simpkins is fulfilling that roll and Fogarty could be the consistent halfback D$E wasn't, Brooksy needs to step it up, hopefully playingwith a consistent half in Fogarty might allow him to.

The average bloke doesn't run out to thousands of fans very week and get paid very well for doing it.
But please remember for the majority of players this is their Job. There will always be the clubmen that would play for nothing but they are in the minority.
Going into work every day for a boss that seems to have very little clue will affect anyone including footy players.
We as fans would all love to think they don't for us but unfortunately its probably not the case.

All valid feelings that YOU are feeling. But as we have found the general Manly supporter that pays his or her money and goes to the footy week in week out will still cheer DCE this weekend regardless. Our heightened emotions don't always match the general consensus.
On DCEs form. Let me say a name to you. Teddy at yhe roosters. 2 or 3 years back he was cooked. Having a retched season and so far off the pace he was destined to retire. Well now hes back in great form and killing it.
Form can be up and down and just because this season has gone sideways it doesn't mean hes cooked. There is not a single Manly player in the roster playing to their potential at the moment. Our 2 starting front rowers are missing, Hamole is gone, Jake and tome are passengers so there is absolutely no evidence that DCE is the sole cause of our form. He's down just like everyone else.
And Seiboke as much as I dislike him is trying to save his job so there is little chance he will be taking a punt on youth.

Ive been looking at effort more than form in regards to DCE. I cant put it down to his teammates poor form that caused him to not want to tackle Turuva last week.

He had a good game against the Storm I feel. Its just been few and far in between.

Sorry mate don’t agree with your summation. I’m not a total Siebold supporter but for mine DCE is responsible for the teams demise this year. Yes certain players are off Siebold & certain players are off DCE. None of us are privy to what happened after round 3! Not us or the media yet they’re the ones sticking it up Siebold & Mestrov. DCE was offered I think $750k to re-sign. Media is now talking about signing with the Roosters for $500k?? So Manly’s offer seems pretty solid for an aging 1/2 back. Does the club risk losing players like Walsh & Large to accommodate DCE? Perhaps both sides are at fault! During today’s media interview DCE stated it was harder for him to renege on the Titans back in the day than leave Manly after 15 years! For me that shows his dislike for the club that made him the rich player he is. Why is it so fu<king difficult to let his team mates & supporters know why, when, where he’s going. Why is it such a fu<king secret? If he came out & was straight with his reasons for leaving early in the season then normal programming resumes. Instead he’s allowed it to stew, cause division in the team & club! This bull$hit excuse that Siebold can’t coach may well be true, however the team played pretty well last year & beginning of this year until the $hit hit the fan. Injuries to our forwards aside the team has shown they’re capable of playing well albeit inconsistently. It means Siebold has some coaching ability. Siebold is on the outer OK but I can’t wait to see the back of DCE also! I guess the actual truth will come out one day. Until then I’ll stick by what we have!
PS it’s easy to blame the coach for our demise but it’s also way easier to attract players to a club when you have people like Laundy & Politis backing you.

He's not worth 800k per season , his club form shows it and his origin form confirmed it.
He'd be lucky to be worth 400k per season.
