Didn't see it that way Soup, Tom virtually got nothing all game, in fact at one point he roamed to the other side to get involved. Did a lot of the tough carry's getting out of the 20m zone, that's hardly crap...just sayin..
It's crap. Compare last night to what he did back in 2021 SOO. Same position and he went hunting for the ball consistently..He not only carted it up with venom, he constantly bust through tackles for quick play the balls. I saw him drift to the left side attack ONCE last night, otherwise, stayed anchored on the right and had zero impact. He is a shadow of his previous self.

I don't think we'll ever see the 21 Turbo version again HK, more like what he did in the Raiders game is probably his top standard now. And if that's the case, I'll gladly settle for that.

Agree. The V'Landy Ball 6 Agains had a lot to do with that Turbo season. But, I'm not seeing him adapt or grow given the changing landscape, and that is what worries me. He is a shadow of his former self in terms of confidence and even athleticism. I can only hope he turns in Raider-type performances consistently moving forward.

Oh, and by the way... Teddy did Turbo and Ado no favours whatsoever with his Gallen hog ball. That said, champions go get themselves involved and adapt. As mentioned above, Turbo did the ONCE the whole game when he drifted across to join the left side attack and laid a beautiful pass on. Not good enough for supposed champions.

Is there any reason why they can't have 16 rounds, no byes, a break in the middle of the season for say three weeks to have tests between countries and then state of origin at end of year?

Then each team would play the other teams once, there would be no disadvantage to teams due to origin selections, players could still have a mid season "break" (each weekend two different countries so between the three weekends test players only play once) and the season would still roughly be the same length?

Players dedicate all they can week in week out for their club (whether they are injured or fit) and I want to see them play with the best of the best in origin and/or tests.

I also however want to see our best possible team competing each week and origin robs us of that.

I really admire Jamie Lyon for choosing to give up rep footy but don't begrudge Tom for his chance.

Shame Fitler used him the way he did in the game though - it gave Tom virtually no chance to shine.

I'd say Teddy's on notice now, his club form is nowhere near on what it was last year. Think Fittler would of liked to try a switch with Tom in the match, but I can't recall Teddy playing in any other position but fullback, to some extent Fittler's hands are somewhat tied on him doing this.

Forget those dreams. Fittler is stuck in his old boy's mentality. He will not drop Teddy or move Turbo to FB until it is well past obvious. At best, we could expect Teddy being removed from next year's series... at best.

All I know is that they need to change something. It’s absurd to think what is at stake in this competition, in terms of money, people’s livelihoods, fans, sponsorship, etc. and we compromise the integrity of the whole thing, by allowing another format to interrupt it. Two points to a side can be winning a minor premiership, making the top 4 (remember no team has won from outside it in the NRL era), making the 8, or avoiding the spoon.

Why the NRL would treat those two points like they don’t matter simply because it’s the difficult Origin period, is the height of stupidity.

The whole integrity of the comp is destroyed every season by the draw alone, even forgetting the Origin factor.

Broncos have lived on Thursday/ Friday nights for years, as an example.

Warriors playing ANZAC Day in Melb every year, without rotation.

There's a thousand examples, if one was so inclined.

Tom is a runner
Not a barge tank
He breaks a tackle with speed
Not trying to knock down forward at 75% pace
Certainly strong but using strength in the wrong way

For next year, it wouldnt surprise me if Freddy did some crazy sh-t like put in Dylan Edwards at FB then drop Luai for Teddy to play at 5/8 and still have Hynes on the bench. lol.
Freddy does some pretty crazy sh-t...just look at last year how he dropped Jake for Talakai. lol.
Freddy needs to go, he's daft.
Didn't the Blues cop two injuries during training, maybe they were training barefoot.

The problem we have is that SOO is played on a Wednesday and our next game is a Friday, if we didn't have the bye this week it'd be two matches, so is that fair that one player has to sit out two matches just because of the draw?
Adds a new meaning to "the luck of the draw"!
If it was on the Sunday would he be right to play?

Providing he's okay and passes all the protocols, surely we'd have some cause for an appeal.
Very well said, and this is my gripe. If our game was on Sunday week and he passed all the tests, there's a good chance he'd be playing. Thanks to the draw the game's on Friday, so bad luck Manly.

According to the NRL policy, to play within the 11 days, needs written clearance from a specialist concussion doctor.

With no prior history of concussions, and 9 days since Origin, I would say Tom has a good chance of being cleared for the dolphins game (based on my zero years as a medical practitioner).
Thanks @rj90. We live in hope!

He will not be coach next year.

Hasler will be coach next year.

It’s just about to hit the media, so watch this space.

Heard first, right here on Silvertails.

1. I hope Turbo is ok. Head injuries are no laughing matter - heaven forbid he gets another one in quick succession, and then he is dealing with a world of pain (see Paddy McCartin - for those who think concussion isn;t a 'thing')
2. I thought Tom was hampered and limited in his strike ability by the structure. When he threw the play book out the window in one or two sets, and drifted to the LHS attack, it caused panic.....
3. Given he will not play next week, in theory he may not get chosen for Origin 2. That would mean he would play for us against the Eels.... and net:net, he ends up playing the same number of games for the Eagles, and one less origin game..... so what are you all whinging about? Everyone has already looked a month into the future and decided that they know what will happen..... if an out of form tom has a head knock, and your team (Freddy) was flogged in game 1. Maybe its a convenient excuse for Freddy to omit Tom? No Turbos in game 2 perhaps?

Just a thought
