Tommy Talau

I do not like this idea at all. Talau can run a good line and bruise in defence but he is on par with Harper for speed. He also showed his temperament when he brushed Hastings' apology after full-time. It was an obvious accident. Also, who sits out a month of football with a broken nose? I thought players just got on with that type of injury? Cronk and Ferguson played their entire careers with busted noses. If I am wrong and there is more to it, I apologise, but I found that strange.

Are you sure that was talau that brushed the King of Spoons?

A fan of your moniker!

Very unlikely to get anyone from Easts.
It’s every representative players life long dream to play there, so much so they go for peanuts.

I don’t know whose fault it is but during our golden run 10-15 years ago we should have been able to attract almost anyone without paying overs.
For some reason we didn’t and fell into a club to avoid.
Well we had a pretty good quota of players.

It was also around the time Hasler was forced out the first time and Penn was ‘scoping and framing’ to force the other owners out.

Should be looking at stealing players from top 6 sides. Serves 2 purpose’s, we get a player coming out of good systems and weakens that teams depth.

In that vein I’d be looking at Connor Tracey ( centre) from the Sharks. Would be a good pick up on the cheap looking for 1st grade. I’d also be looking at Royce Hunt for 24’. Bends the line most times he hits it up..

I’m loving all the Tiger fans speculating on social media on who the Tigers should swap Talau for.Names like Weekes,Fainu and even Saab have been suggested. Not sure the Tigers fans realise Talau is off contract the end of this season and Manly don’t desperately need him at the moment so no need to dispense with one of their own to get him early, unless it’s one of the dispensable

Kayal Iro would be a fantastic signing from the Sharks.

You need depth. Assuming Harper gone and possibly koula to rugby yawn.

I can assume Harper gone, but Koula gone is pure speculation.
We also have Garrick.

Meyers is excellent depth now. Bring him into the 30 and see how he goes.

Talau is also a cat. Don't need any of them.

I read that Blake Taafe is off contract this year and he's been languishing in the reggies.
Signing Taafe to takeover the fullback position and move Turbo to centres (if it can prolong his career).
Taafe can develop into a Dylan Edwards type player. Not a superstar but a solid contributor and a cheapie.
I can't see Taafe taking that FB position any time soon while Latrell is at the club.

Weekes,Toby?

Weekes,Toby?
I prefer Weekes as an utility off the bench. Taafe is a specialist FB.
Don't get me wrong Weekes is a gun, I think he's best off the bench as an impact player.
I'd put in Toby to partner Turbo if Koula went to RU.

Taafe
Saab / Tui
Turbo
Koula / Toby
Garrick

If every player played to their ability like Parker does every week then we'd be a much more resilient team.

That’s exactly the problem. He plays to the best to his ability…which is not NRL standard. He’s not zippy, doesn’t have the footwork, doesn’t have the speed, doesn’t have the defence. All attributes you’d want in a centre and he has ZERO!!!

Playing with heart and being an all round good bloke just doesn’t cut it.

Which team would have him as starting centre besides us?

You cant pay Tom 1.1 million a year when at centre he will touch the ball a lot less than what he does at fullback.
Toby is too small for either centre or fullback, might go ok in State Cup butnot NRL

Would playing Tom at centre to have that roaming role he did in origin make him less susceptible to injury though? He didnt seemed to bothered by it. I guess im trying to look at it from the point of view of injuries.
