Toronto and Newtown have bigger attendance

Fan disengagement due to the club walking away from it’s proud culture with a coaching staff who are out of the depth blow in’s a media manager who is a blow in who bans life long members on social media and a ceo who goes on holidays mid season.

Not to mention the horse**** the team are trotting up on the field.

The total disengagement of the fans is there for all to see. Our fans and members are not stupid!! They see the way the club is being run and they are voting with their feet and soon the club will understand membership.

The thing that has to change and the owners do not see it is communicating with the fans and members, show some true leadership and bring the club together unlike our current situation where it is so divided.

Manly, since I have followed them, are known for their toughness, resilience and flair, what we see at the moment is a busted team being coached by a guy who does not have the skill to bring them together and has a game plan that centres around playing the same old players that are failing, starting with the captain who is not managing games as per his job description!!

Appoint Jake as captain, get some much-needed enthusiasm into the team, Jake bleeds for the club and get in a fitness coach to enable our team to play for 80 minutes!!!

Fans are and always will be fickle, our crowds are crap as are the Dogs and worms who have much bigger fan bases than us!! They love to kick us when we are down and we are a soft and easy target.

I hope the owners allow the club to get back to our traditional values and trust me that the fans will return!!

Another credible article by the gang of mongoloids.

Toronto = 1 team town/country blowing the competition away. And unlike the NRL, know how to promote a sport.

Newtown = average crowds under 1,000. It was the grog and food promo. Approximately 7,000. Yeah okay, let’s find the lowest NRL crowd and fudge the numbers.

They must bounce back for Cronulla in Cronulla next week, followed by a run of games against Canterbury, Wests Tigers and the Gold Coast. Yeah, beautifully written by the ‘staff writers’. How many of them does it take to work out for is a better word to use than against?

Yes... there is a lot of misleading info (or lack of info) in that article that I wasn't going to be bothered typing it but as it's been replied to, I'll add this:

Getting 6000 to a game is not good any way you look at it, however the place wasn't packed with Panther fans either. 'Journos' always seem to forget this when having a good ole Manly bash.

I wanted to say that before giving some other Toronto based reasons.

  • Toronto is a one team town with a population of almost 3 million (biggest in Canada)
  • The wolfpack is the only professional rugby league team in Canada
  • They have been routinely winning games by 30+ points.
  • They haven't lost at home in almost 2 years
  • They had to play most of the season away while their stadium was getting a major face-lift.
  • There stadium (unlike brookie) received a major upgrade.
  • It was the last home game in the regular season.

Additionally:
  • Tickets were HALF price.
  • Food and beer were discounted
  • It was the wolfpack's 'fan appreciation day' (as I believe it was Manly's)
  • There were a ton of competitions and a lot of entertainment for fans.
So there were plenty of reasons for the Wolfpack to get a decent sized crowd and in fact it was their biggest home game attendance of the season.

As always, hatchet articles like the fox one only shows one side of the story.

And er..... Toronto lost the game!

Round 21 Bulldogs v broncs.

Great big shiny stadium and 2 teams with lots of fans that never get portrayed as 'non travelling'.

Attendance: 6,434

So now let's see if there is an anti 'bulldogs or broncos' article about how embarrassing that is or whether either team should relocate. If not, how many more examples do we need of sporting 'journos' being editor puppets, tribally aligned, totally click bait driven, biased, non fact checking, cowards?

Not a day goes by that I don't appreciate that I (like most of you I'm sure) have other sports I follow.

Watching a professionally run game of choice where the refs don't make huge blunders, video replays are rarely needed, coaches challenges are allowed and the skills are awesome; followed by insightful, non agenda driven discussions by professional commentators and ex players alike is just so refreshing.

It should be the norm, I agree, but it's not.

Agree mate. Don't hold your breath waiting for that article. And they were giving away free tickets to the Bulldogs game so I would think a good portion of those who attended did not even pay. Will be interesting to see how many turn up to the Eels vs Titans game on Saturday. Will likely be another small crowd.

The NRL is going downhill fast. Read an article today, the AFL now have 1 million club members and attendances are up. There are something like 180,000 Collingwood and Richmond members and if those two teams were to make the grand final then they could easily sell out the MCG twice over. The NRL would be lucky to have 100,000 club members. Greenberg is running this great game into the ground and the way it is going it won't be around for much longer.

Look at tonight compared to magpies vs tigers in the afl last week. Same situation as tonight 2 teams in the top 4 attracts nearly 90000 odd and tonight 1-2 in the nrl was 15132.. really pathetic in my view..but won’t even get a mention. It should of been minimum 20,000 tonight.

Just goes to show how much Todd is really destroying the game.
Finally tonight again reinforced how much I can’t stand Souths and scum.pride of the league yer right.

You’re being very generous mate. If the NRL was fair dinkum and well run, 30-40k should have been the minimum, regardless of whether it was Melbourne. Shameful and I go back to my spray as to why the fcuk we have to move from Brookie.

About time the proper question was asked, that being not small crowds at Brookvale, but the complete mismanagement and promotion of the game that results in pisspoor crowds across the league.

If they want to move us, they should be moving every fkn club (with the exception of the Broncs).

Agreed
Seriously any major sporting code would just sit and laugh at the nrl behind closed doors and would laughing stock of other codes.
