Trump

Uhhhhhhh thanks Woodside, clicked on the link, funny by the way 🤣, however, I have a bone to pick with you because the link led me to Facebook, which led me to an article about the new Bears board in WA which then somehow led to a video of a breast feeding mother.

The only conclusion, the NS Bears are still going to suck the life out of any merge or team they're involved in 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Well that should guarantee a few more clicks.

Not sure covid had anything to do with $1 trillion in improper payments. The bottom line is that everyone recognises debt has been growing exponentially for decades, regardless of who was in power, and we are rapidly reaching the point where hard decisions need to be made. You can argue the merits of individual actions, but at least the Trump administration has recognised the problem and is taking steps to address.

No doubt the usual suspects will say “cut the US military” but they are also the same ones saying “why are they forcing other NATO nations to increase their own military spending” and “we need to support Ukraine”. It’s a dangerous world, with plenty of real bad guys.
Republican administrations historically add more debt

Trump and Biden only had 4 years and COVID did create a lot of disruption. That said, they were comparable, although Trump did consistently add debt despite following on from a stable 2nd Obama term.

i.e Obama came into power after the global financial crisis yet still Trump added nearly the same debt in just 4 years (substantially more than Obama 2nd term)

But that was Trump with genuine politicians / economists around him. Now he just has loyalists with no expertise.

Even in 2025 he’s ruined most of US soft power, trade relationships and decreased the value of their dollar by around 10%. He has stuffed farmers by cutting us aid and losing access to important agricultural imports. The biggest issue for mine is Trump’s willingness to drive money away from the middle class to the ultra wealthy. But neglecting the details of that argument, his current ‘big beautiful bill’ alone is projected to add $3.3 trillion on debt over ten years. He will never be the fix to their problems, especially unconstrained as he is now. ICE is another example where they are severely blowing money just to serve their own ideological interests

To avoid putting together paragraphs with quantitative examples, I’ll go the easier route and call on the perspectives offered by people that worked closely with him. He’s very much a reality tv businessman - as emphasised in comments made by John Miller, marking executive of the Apprentice:

“I helped create a monster… I never imagined that the picture we painted of Trump as a successful businessman would help catapult him to the White House,” he said.
“To sell the show, we created the narrative that Trump was a super-successful businessman who lived like royalty. That was the conceit of the show,” Miller wrote.
“At the very least, it was a substantial exaggeration; at worst, it created a false narrative by making him seem more successful than he was.”
“He had plenty of time for filming, he loved the attention and it painted a positive picture of him that wasn’t true”
Miller also accused Trump of exaggerating “The Apprentice’s” ratings when he refers to it as “America’s No. 1 TV show… But it wasn’t. Not that week. Not that season. I had the ratings in front of me. [Trump] had seen and heard the ratings, but that didn’t matter. He just kept saying it was the ‘No. 1 show on television,’ even after we corrected him. He repeated it on press tours too, knowing full well it was wrong,” Miller said.
“I say now to my fellow Americans, without any promotional exaggeration: If you believe that Trump will be better for you or better for the country, that is an illusion, much like ‘The Apprentice’ was.”

His uni professor also mentioned “Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had.”

Just paints the picture of a self-obsessed, attention seeking con man propped up by America’s entertainment industry and an uneducated base taking the bait. Again I can offer more substantive examples but it’s not really worth my time, he’s a known liar and lover of all things Trump and he’s proven to the world in 2025 that he doesn’t understand how economies work. Nor will he ever grasp how tariffs work. US is an Idiocracy now more than ever before

It is also disappointing that we are once again going down the personal smear route. I can assure you I can post just as many articles calling into question the integrity/ethics/judgement of recent democratic leaders. It is also disappointing that the perennial “uneducated base” line gets another airing. As I have said before, I prefer to just debate actions and policies on their merits, without the moralising/grand standing/virtue signalling.

Bozo and Brookie, what a team, never beaten in any debate* and nor is Trump (who uses remarkably similar strategies!)

* 'any debate' .. including ones that aren't even a debate, but just trying to discuss stuff!
