I am going to post a transcript of Trump from today and the video. Again I am not saying he is senile etc as that is impossible to judge without an examination however I would welcome an explanation on this

Nobody else could have done it. I'm telling you, everybody wanted it. Nobody could have done it. And I said, and I won't be president, because I'll be president for four more years, but it won't be -- and then they cheated and rigged the election. They rigged -- you know, they don't even turn off the cameras when I say that now, because now they know it's true, too. But they knew it was true before. It's slightly more dangerous, because they're criminals on the other side that tried to put your president in jail and went after him, just like they do in third-world countries. So you followed it perfectly. And you think that is a sane answer?
For what it's worth, Trump didn’t “get” the World Cup.
The 2026 tournament was awarded to a joint bid by the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The only serious rival was Morocco.
FIFA’s policy excludes continents that hosted the previous two tournaments — so Europe (Russia 2018) and Asia (Qatar 2022) couldn’t bid, which ruled out many traditional powerhouses.
South America didn't enter the race either, as their focus was on hosting the centenary World Cup in 2030, ideally in Uruguay and Argentina, where it all began in 1930.
Trump no doubt had some involvement but as usual, the reality was far less dramatic than the way he told it.
As for the Olympics, again, it’s a stretch to say Trump “brought the Games.”
By 2017, only Paris and Los Angeles were still in the running for the 2024 Olympics. Both bids were strong. Rather than pick one and lose the other, the IOC made a historic move:
- Paris was awarded 2024,
- LA was awarded 2028 — simultaneously, a first in Olympic history.
