Penrith flogged Parra in week 1 of the finals and then again in the GF in 2022, and that was after losing to them twice during the regular season. Mind you that team had/has a lot more resilience and mental toughness than ours do.

I'm not confident in this one, but only because we're such an up and down team that I don't know what we're going to produce, and it's easier to expect disappointment than to get our hopes up and be let down. I don't think the Dogs are the type of team to suddenly be able to turn it on, moreso a fairly tough, gritty team that have benefitted hugely off a soft draw this year. On paper we definitely have the better team and should win (as we did 2 weeks ago) but that's not how rugby league works, and it's especially not how it works for our team.

I'm against the grain it seems.

It is a sudden death game, Tom plays, if he goes down after 20 then he goes down.

It is worth the risk.
Just seems short sightedness, to risk not only him going down after the first tackle, and be forced to play with 3 on the bench for the rest of the game and then if we do win, likely be in worse condition for arguabley stronger opposition in the next weeks game.
Then we have all seen how trepid he is returning from injury, though we do miss his barking from the back in defence.

I guess it all depends on how he actually is, things we don't know. A crystal ball would be handy.

Just me, I think I could handle a loss to the dogs as long as we played to the best we could without Turbo, than losing because turbo should not have played.
Hopefully I don't have to deal with a loss 🤣🤣

Could be Seibs is giving Tom up until game day to prove his fitness with some needling & if he’s no good then Faulalo is at 18th man to come into the backline in his place*

If so, will Seibs stick with Koula at FB or put Lehi there?

*which would then bring Humphreys into 18th man…is Seibs possibly playing silly buggers & intends to bring Faulalo in for Turbo & Humphreys to the bench for Burbo at the 11th hour so Croker can have a spell? 🤔

We made the finals , last year we were 12th.

I wouldn’t call that a failure.
We all have different views mate. My rationale is that if we lose to the dogs we would have lost 2 of the last 3 games of the year! One being against the wooden spooners. As a kid I remember teasing the Norths fans as their team would always crumble come September. Not much point having a good season just fall apart when it matters. Like you I am hoping for a big win on Sunday. I am personally expecting it….

I've got no idea how fit Tom is or isn't but he plays this game 100% in my mind no matter what. He's missed so many games late on in the last few years there's no way he doesn't roll the dice here in my opinion.

As regards to how it goes I think I'm similar to most others - I think our best game is better than the Bulldogs best BUT they are a more consistent team and expect them to bring much more intensity than they have the past two weeks when they've been flat and with the home ground advantage they'll lift.

If we play well we'll win..... but we'll need much better than what we dished up last week.

I think I'd rather see that than a wounded Tom shuffling around and 80 min of poor dummy half play.

I mean, if they aren't confident he can get through the 1st tackle then yes, obviously dont play him. But the coaching staff, medical team and Tom must be reasonably confident.

As for next week, can't think like that IMO, focus solely on beating thr Dogs

Have been working at the ground today, Turbo knee still compressed did not see him engage with contact during the drills

We will find out soon enough we simply don't know so have to trust the brains trust, however they have taken a couple of risks in selections that haven't ended well, hope it's different this time.

Not really, yes focus on beating the next opponent first by all means, but it's finals now, doesn't matter if we bow out week1, week 2 or 3, its the big dance that matters so why blow your turbo to early.
I do get your reasoning though

How many other players have strapping on their knees? And how many Dogs in the same boat?

He said today he's not doing contact work till game day. He's going to play, even though Canterbury fans will be hoping that he won't:)

Honestly, for all the hand-wringing over it, I'm glad that he's going run out. I'm proud of him for pushing through the pain and doing what he can for the team. And I trust that he and the medical staff will not be risking his career for short-term gain. He hasn't played in many finals, and he's very unlikely to get "more hurt". All I can say is, "Go, son! Go!"

I think Koula had too, not sure about Dogs but I would say a few too! I agree with what you say mate you won’t hear me say a bad word about him he’s a good bloke

Anybody else thinking that Manly could be orchestrating an elaborate plan to pull of a massive deception ploy on the underperforming Doggies. What if Tom's injury is just a low grade one and that the Manly medicos have been sworn to silence. Love a good conspiracy story.
