Turbo tied up long term

If true - Manly needs to work out who stuffed up here. If Gentle made a verbal offer he was not authorised to make... see you later Gentle.

The last thing the club needs is lack of basic professionalism especially if it puts the star player's nose out of joint and makes the club look stupid in public.
I don’t think the club should be offering anything that’s pending board approval. Get board approval first, then make the offer. It’s the wrong way around.

I'm sorry but I'm over this crap Tom if you want just leave. One minute Tom is looking to hand money back (supposedly) now he wants to complain about 100k wtf

"The contract at the Wolves is worth less than the one on offer at Manly, but money is not the key driver behind Trbojevic’s decision."

Then why are you complaining if money is not the key driver?
😂 more champaign reporting!

They’re trying to imply that integrity has been undermined so now he’s interesting in leaving for less. It’s weird that Tom was allegedly happy to take 750k last year but now is upset that 900k has become 800k.

I can see how the inclusion or otherwise of a broadcast deal ratchet clause might get miscommunicated in negotiations. Presumably this sort of stuff is usual in the back and forth of contract negotiations. The bigger issue is it is being played out via the media which makes us look like a bunch of amateurs. Wouldn’t have happened in Arkos day.

I suggest he was comfortable at -$100k, but given the new broadcast rights, the baseline has changed, such that -$100k is really -$200k. Maybe it’s more about respect than money in any case. Still amateur hour either way.

Because none of that article actually quotes anything that Turbo has said, so they're making up what his apparent thoughts & reactions to something they also don't have proof of are.

Could come down to a perceived lack of respect and/or trust due to how the negotiations have been conducted…
Nobody wants to work with/for people that they do not trust and therefore do not respect… the brand will only get you so far, the people behind the brand have to offer something also…

Again, if true, it sounds more to me like Sutton forgot to request a ratchet clause be included, then realised after the fact & is trying to claim it was agreed to verbally.

Manly have advised there is a ratchet clause for years 2 & 3 on a base of $800k & $700K respectively.

$900k + $800k + $700K = $2.4m in total.

$850k x 3 = $2.55m.

So where's the missing $300k the article claims? I can only see $115k less, which will no doubt be covered by the ratchet clause increasing his salary in years 2 & 3 by more than that anyway.

Meanwhile, Tom's probably having a great time in Bali totally unconcerned about it.

Agree. Honestly, at this point I don't care if he stays or goes. If he stays, great. If he doesn't, we can work with that. But it just has to be handled better - without all the daily bullish#t in the media.

Absolute clown show, with Mr Fluffy leading the way.

I have given up on a premiership within the lifetime of his next contract anyways so I tend to agree…

That might change if he bobbed up at another NRL club and produced “2021 Tom” though 🤣

Turbo & his team: Its not about the money but let’s leak every hurdle in the negotiations to make Manly look bad & try create some outrage from the fans to pressure the club into paying overs. Let’s also make sure these journo’s keep repeatedly saying Turbo would never play against manly & he was willing to take a pay cut a couple years ago to gain sympathy for the terrible position he’s been put in 🤣 what a joke.

What are these guys even doing entertaining offers from Warrington?? I thought it was against the rules having talks with other clubs before November 1…

Whatever happens, happens. There's really no point speculating given the agendas that rule rugby league in general and Manly in particular.

HAVING SAID THAT, if Manly lose Tom due to incompetence, having suffered through all sorts of garbage going back to the treatment of club legend Tooves, and the hugely committed to the cause Eagles Angels, I will take a break from the club until The Penn Family is no longer associated.

This is my line in the sand.

TBaz, Keith Titmuss, rainbow-gate, Des sacking, Seibold signing, Schuster signing, Schuster sacking, Lodge signing, Lloyd Perrett, DCE circus, Daley signing, Daley rejection… that is just off the top of my head…

It ain’t Turbo’s fault that Manly look bad…

Agreed @47MVEagle IMO, not only has the agent mismanaged the negotiations on behalf of his client, but he has then leaked the 'details' (according to his version of the events), to cover his ass and intentionally make the club look bad. The chosen media puppets have spun the rest to support that narrative, knowing full well that MWSE management cannot adequately counter this within the "current" media cycle.

Does this happen at the Panthers, Storm, Roosters etc.? Or are we just some poor, unfortunate victim type of club?

Nah, we really are a basketcase. Turbo needs to go on NRL360 and then Mestrov will offer him over the phone during the show. We're a shxr show.

It happens at all clubs @Budgie Look at the Roosters last week. I don't believe that Manly is "some, poor, unfortunate victim", but the game of Rugby League certainly is. The sooner the NRL start fining player agents for deliberately leaking bull**** stories to paid media puppets, the better IMO.

Public gutkickings, where the fans can go into a lottery to win an opportunity to ‘kick a Moses’ or in this instance, ‘kick a Sutton’, would be my preference.
