Uate

The flying Fijian has been a great buy. I was worried like others but really happy with him. He and Walker are combining well.

Yes he's proved many of us wrong, and all credit to Bozo for signing him, despite it being at the expense of Buhrer (who I still regret losing).

I spoke to Uate today about how well he's played with us and, while thanking me, he was very humble about it...

It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong.
Normally I'm not that man.
In this case I'll just say what a great addition to our club.
Go Aku !!
100 percent. I told all and sundry when we bought him we had bought the biggest dud in our clubs history. Now I'd be happy seeing him play origin.

And I love the recapturing of his smile. Haven't seen him play like that for years. Great to see.

Osteitis Pubis is a common cause of chronic groin pain in the football codes. It is an overuse injury. @ That is, it is caused by repeated trauma rather than a specific incident. However, it is not uncommon for a specific incident to trigger the symptoms.

Uate had an unstable pelvis - no more needs to be said :lipssealed:

Yeah not touching that one at all!

I bet the Knights supporters are wondering where was this form the last few years.
He's killing it and looks like he's enjoying himself.
I must say I'm eating my own words as I thought he was going to be a dud of a buy when we signed him up.
Could be the buy of the year.

Uate relishing change of environment

The sight of Uate into open space against the Gold Coast Titans on Saturday night would have had those on the northern beaches chuffed at what they saw, however Knights fans could be excused for feeling like coach Nathan Brown made the wrong decision letting the club's all-time leading try-scorer go in a trade-deal for injured Knight Jamie Buhrer.

Great buy - he has that "x" factor and well done those responsible for his recruitment. I am happy for him as he is a humble man who deserves success. Our squad squad is solidfying and playing for each other and I feel something special will happen this year as a result.

Chez came around after the Mal Reilly Challenge Trophy presentation. So a big thanks to Uate and Chez for doing this, it was really appreciated by us die hards.
He didn't come over to us but good on him anyway. I noticed Chez in the presser was still wearing his sodden jersey...maybe he thought if the fans can put up with it then so can he!

Could never understand why so many people were up in arms about his signing, we were getting a proven, 100+ tries, rep level winger for next to nothing, there was never any down side in the deal

There was the argument he was dropped to reserve grade, he was never a reserve grade level player, that was just the path Newcastle took to force him out of the club, because they didn't want to pay his salary

Great to have Newcastle paying him to knock them over last night

Great quote from Uate last night -
"It means a lot to get a win, we needed that win no matter what. It doesn't really matter [who it was against], it was not about me and Newcastle, it's about Manly – we needed that two points before the bye."

Akuila Uate was in everything as his new club Manly ground out a tough 18-14 win against his old club Newcastle in the wet on Friday night but after the game rejected suggestions he lost control of the ball in scoring a crucial try.

I didn't think it was a knock on," Uate said after the game.

"It looks loose but I still had my hands on the ball anyway. It was a try, I don't know what they're talking about. At the end of the day we got the two points."
Thumbs up Akuila !
