These players only care about themselves. They take fans for granted. They wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.

I'm sure Todd Carney would set you on fire and piss on you if you asked nicely.

He'd do it just for fun. You wouldn't even have to ask.
But it'd be better to get Julian O'Neill to set you on fire and then have Carney piss on you. Specialisation and all that.

I think he was just trying to get them to focus on footy questions. I wouldn't read too much into his deliberately very limited comments on his contract.
I agree. From what I heard of the interview Choc was in a good mood, happy to talk about footy but not about contracts.
I reckon Choc will be plenty fired up for this finals series. He'll give 100%.

I thought it was a good interview, but thats my view, but people still want to pick him to pieces,he,s dammed if he does, and dammed if he doesnt

Watmough was then reminded that reporters simply spoke and represented the fans. The Manly backrower laughed.......

I read that and just laughed.

Surely he/she meant "misrepresented" the fans.

What a croc.

So, for the modern footy player it's come done to this: "My manager makes all the decisions on where I play."
And, of course, the manager will sign him to the club that pays the most because that means more money for the manager. No thought of loyalty, being a 'junior' who always dreamed of representing the local club, playing with friends, enjoying living in the area, the on-field success . . .
It really is a pathetic situation RL is in.
Why players need managers, who care about little more than their commission, is beyond me.
(wait a second... I'll need to have this vetted by my manager before I press 'send')
I highly doubt any player simply goes where his manager tells them and of course its the managers role to leverage as much as they can for a player, that is their job.

Its so easy to vilify managers, but they are not here to look out for the clubs.

Can you imagine some 17 yr old islander kid sitting down to negotiate with Politis???

Managers are no more self serving then clubs, coaches, players and dare I say it, fans!!!

What 17 year old has a manager in any other profession than sport? All 17 year-olds I know would be grateful just to have a job.
It should be the duty of the Players Association to provide free representation to all players who are negotiating contrasts. Doesn't each player pay into a fund for this type of help?

Ummm Actors, Musicians, basically any profession where there is intense media scrutiny and vast amounts of money involved.

Even if the players association was to provide free guidance you get what you pay fo. Its like if you are up in court, will free legal aid serve ou best or a top priced lawyer.

For mine i put myself in the players shoes and if i was a player i would want the biggest baddest manager going round, to secure me the contract i want (at Manly obviously), the endorsements i want and the date with Mila Kunis that i want!!
