We need a kicker

Im just loving we are thinking our goal kicking could cost us in the finals. Lets all cast our minds back to the first few rounds.....

I stand by my belief we are not a realistic contender for the big dance, but in the next year or so absolutely! Lets enjoy the unexpected for this year
Buggar i just went out and bought my blue suade shoes.

I'm so disappointed with Chez showing the world he doesn't want the kicking duties in the presser.

Matt Wright is not the sole person who has a job to kick goals.

Chez Mentality here is the problem.

Non of our players look like they practice. All except wright don't even seem to want to do it.

I believe the club did have a kicking coach at the start of the year. Who ever it is, sack him, and get a new one.

Being a good goal kicker is not bloody hard. But it does require practice, practice and more practice.

Im not getting the impression our players are putting in, as a club, time to get a bit harder on them and work the 4 of them more.

I've said it for years. Chez is the man. Back yourself and your ability Turtle. Your better than this.

Yes @Turbo1 we do need a goalkicker, hence my comment in the game day thread about Hastings being left out once again.

With our next few games, and indeed into the finals, we're really going to need an accurate goalkicker, as kicking goals could make us or break us.

I think its a bit much to put that extra responsibility on DCE, though if we have to use him, we have to. If we can't have Hastings and Wright's injured, surely Walkz can do some extra practice.
You cant kick goals from the bench, so hastings is worthless and Api is handling 70 mins plus a game now.

Wasn't DCE a sharp shooter when we were affiliated with the sunshine coast?
I thought he kicked a stack of goals then.
What I don't understand is if Wright isn't fit enough to kick, assuming that's why he's not, how can he be fit enough to play?
Totally agree about Matthew Wright who is really struggling with injuries. Bring up Brad Parker and let Matthew recover from his injuries.

DCE has to step up, there is no other way. His spot in the team is guaranteed, he gets the big bucks, he's a well balanced athlete, just needs the time kicking in games. No reason he can't become as good as Cam Smith, who wasn't much chop when he first started taking the conversions.

When ch 9 did a story on dce a couple of years ago...one of his previous coaches (from his junior days I guess) said that dce would practise kicking for at least an hour after training every time.

So there's at least a foundation laid under there somewhere.

It's a tough one. If only we could work Hastings into the starting 13.. The only position for him is 6. Green obv killing it at the moment so won't be a change there. You could potentially look at putting Green as a ball playing lock, Jurbo to front row (long mins) and Hastings to 6.. It obv won't happen but Hastings seems to be the best GK option in the top 25. Wright's style reminds me of my mates golf swing... ugly but effective...

Chez can't carry the Team. He takes those long place kicks, tackles more than most of our forwards and covers both sides of the field in attack.:shake:

Walks should practice his kicking as it was pretty good for a while.
Chez gets paid the most , so he can have the kicking duties as well 😉
