Great game but for the ref's blowing the pea out of the whistle

This. They had very little control imo.

My Roosters supporter friend sent me a txt mid way 2nd half and said - we were being robbed ....and this bloke NEVER critises the officialism and does not particularly like Manly.

What do we have to do to get home ground advantage? I feel as though we copped a raw deal against Souths and Cronulla - in front of our biggest crowds.

Yeah we seem to be getting all the calls going against.
I hate souths fans. Coughed all over them. Do they even watch the game.

Huge amount of luck in that result. We could have easily scored 20 or 30 more points. Sometimes a lucky finger tip is the difference between scoring and not.

Plenty of promise in that showing.

That's sort of how I see it too: a touch more luck our way and we destroy them. Some bounces that went just one roll too far, timing out by a fraction in attack....

Credit where it's due though: wabbits turned up to play...

Unlucky was an understatement for manly i thought. Given they missed out on 7 or more tries and that is just looking at the highlights video.

Souths did well to slow the play of the ball down. Couldn't get any real roll on.

why it is so hard for the ref's to penalise teams for slowing down the ruck?
in both this game & the sharks game they were allowed to slow the ruck down way too much & it cost us momentum.we got penalties for hands on the ball but i don't remember the last time we got a penalty for opposition slowing down the ruck.

We looked rattled and started fighting and soon as we do that, we always lose. Remember the Storm 1st GF we tried the big hits. Boys tried hard but beten by a younger, faster, more willing team who wanted it more. Manly old boys fought and Souffs just wanted to play. Maguire is a great coach keeping his boys in check in front of a packed house. Our million dollar halves were outplayed by Reynolds and co. Lyon isn't doing it as well this year. Tom Symonds continues to kill it and Horo was really strong.

Um, Souths threw the 1st punch mate

You can do better than that Darren, you missed your crack at Brett and Brookvale !!

Otherwise you covered all your agendas with the old, slow team, overpaid halves and a dig at Lyon

Well won Rabbitohs, quite amazing good defense much of that game.

A crowd of 20510 packed into Brookie, and so much Maroon & White was great to see!
Such a great war to watch on the field that 1st half, under a big full moon which I was hoping would inspire the Wolfman and his team-mates.

The reffing was mostly OK I thought, most of the calls were reasonable though that late obstruction resulting in no try for Manly was a bit dodgy.

Well done Souths to keep Manly out of it, who struggled to execute as well as they have in previous games this year.
Enjoy your victory song in the away team shed @ Brookvale, not many get to do so!

Then it makes sense

Still a weird ruling though. You could get suspended for it but it would not be a penalty ?

Steve Lyons just posted on Rose's Facebook that refs were told at the start of the season that under no circumstances would a penalty try be awarded from a shoulder charge, even though that goes against the rule book

Such a silly thing to do - the whole justification of ruling out the shoulder charge was player welfare

So it is okay to "endanger"'another player if it stops a try? I.e the result being a penalty rather than a penalty try? Not that I am saying wolf deserved the penalty try but a blanket ruling is crazy

It was a great game. We threw an awful lot at Souths in the first 20m but they withstood it. Our attack in high pressure situations needs plenty of work, lucky it's only R7. Souths deserved to win and will be a danger at the pointy end, they are big, well organised and they have Inglis.

Having said that, I think we created more chances and could have won. Not too sad about the loss, hopefully it is one that helps Toovey identify the areas we need to improve.

Turning point for me was very early on. Horhay makes that great bust, slows down as he approaches fullback to position support, even manages to turn Inglis inside out and limit his defensive options, looks inside to see two support players perfectly positioned one of whom was Snake.......nek minnit he decides to go himself. Brain snap. We score that one and we are up 6-0 and build from there.

Also can't help thinking about those two infield kicks that had try written all over them if they were a little shallower or we got a luckier bounce. We could have been up by 12 or more at half time and the match has a completely different feel.

Agreed, Jorge does have a knack of running away from supports. Could have, should have, but didn't. The story of the night.
