What position needs urgent recruiting?

A couple of positions need attention in my opinion
1. Hooker - Lachie I think is a good back up and can play half but I think we need a specialist 9 in the role. Heard during the broadcast that Lachie has had 3 40-20's to date. I think we need more from the 9. Also need quicker service and aggressive running. Lachie is a great defender but think being a back up or No 14 would suit him better
2. Centre - Since the departure of Lyons and Matai, I don't think this position has been really filled. We need centres who can attack and promote the footy to their wingers, but feel thst sll too often our centres tend to go themselves. They also need to be great defenders. Parker is a good defender but lacks the attacking finesse, Koula is young and a work in progress, Harper seems out of form in both attack and defence. Maybe Turbo could be better suited there, but who would be No 1?
3. Backrowers - Where can we get another Olakuatu? Tuilagu's defensive decisions need work. What we seem to be missing is the 'Enforcer' role. Other teams have the likes of Kikau, Felisi Kaufusi, Radley, Nelson Soloman and the likes. We haven't really had an enforcer since Watmough. It appears only Jake is trying to chop attackers in half and getting under the rib cage to dislodge the ball. Problem with that is attackers will avoid him and run at someone else
In general play we seem to be lacking line speed in defence, and quick play the balls with a decisive intention in attack. We seem to play people out of positions too much.
I think we need a marquee signing every now and then to bring in outside tealent with ideas on external systems to provoke some thought within our own. Relying solely on BWSE will keep us where we are at the moment.
We seem to be haemorrhaging way too many points each game. Defence across the board needs work
All in all a work in progress
My thoughts anyway

Lmao....this really is hilarious.

So given the confines of our salary cap situation....
Where do we find quality centres, hooker, enforcer, backrower????
Marquee signings.....just fkn lol

Seriously, I propose we sign Munster, Tedesco as back-up to Tommy, Ash Graham, JWH, and add another marquee for good measure.

Maybe ask the Roosters how they pull this off......

If you haven't worked out by now that we will never be that "glamour" club again, I'm not sure what to tell you.

We are a small club, run on the smell of an oily rag, albeit a little better this year, with a couple of players taking a large % of the cap, whilst not delivering similar % of positive results.

I read on here today that DCE is still on a million a year next season ( new contract)...that is ridiculous money for output if true.
He should be playing 14....but who can afford to pay 1 mill for a 14?

What are our salary cap confines???????? We have bought no stars for years. We have 3 players on bucks, like most clubs in the comp and we have no one else that should rate in the cap. Why are we different to nearly every other club. Why cant we attract anyone of note. Maybe its our owner, maybe its our captain. Its not the new coaching staffs fault. Manly have been behind the eight ball since 2014. We have signed f#cking nobody, yet we still have a salary cap issue.??? Its laughable.

I like your thinking...If we could somehow sign big Nelson who is off contract as well as Wiremu, we would have a monster pack that would be feared. Add in a scheming rotation hooker combo of Weekes/Gordy and we have the ingredients for a competitive team.
I'd let go of Keppe, Aloai, Paseka,Croker,Tuilagi, etc.

Forward pack would look like this

13 Jake
12 Mole
11 Bully
10 Greig
9 Gordy
8 Nelson

Bench:
14 Weekes
15 TSips
16 Woods
17 Fainu
Unfortunately I doubt we could afford NAS

Hey Mave
I agree 100% with you on all the above fronts
Each Club in the NRL has the same Salary Cap.(with the exceptions of those with previous breaches)
We as a club need to be managing this salary cap better than we have been.
No good when the owner comes out and states that we have a 'Premiership Winning Roster' when we clearly do not.
Our shortfalls are pretty obvious and are unfortunately too well depicted on scoreboards
Hoping for a turnaround

So apparently we were having a red hot crack at signing flegler recently... that tells me we have some cash somewhere...

Agree we can't sign a Heap of players, but 1 or 2 astute Signings that could make a difference to the current squad dynamics would be handy!

I agree with most of what you saying. Except the part of relying on BWSE players. A lot of those guys are hungry for a gig in first grade and would relish a chance to rip in. They beat a determined and talented Penrtih side yesterday and the body language suggested they werent there to make up the numbers. Id say theres about 6 or 8 players that deserve a look in first grade.
With the purse strings looking lean BWSE might seem to be the only short term option to turn things around.

How long should we wait till we part with this failed Blacktown joke. 2 wooden spoons in a row and we have got a fairly average first grade squad from it

What choice do we have.
We never use to have Blacktown, and hey we were successful. Was only the Fultons who were hell bent on bringing in the islanders from the west. Its failed, so back to the drawing board, something has to change.. And please I mean no disrespect to the great Bozo. Just what we have had and continue to have is not acceptable.

Plenty of areas we can improve but I think a real quality no9 would improve the team and many individuals around them
