5/8th has to be Hiku. Not just because he is potentially well suited to job, but because of how it would other affect players. Consider if the following players were made 5/8:

1. Tom T: It's a huge ask for a rookie to play out of position as 5/8th and be in front line of defence while his body is still growing. Let him get used to NRL on wing. Plus he gives us badly-need speed/height on wing and back-up for snake during games.

2. Lyon: Why disrupt one of our real strengths (centre) when there is already so much disruption with next hooker/ 5/8th. Also, Lyon acts as a play-maker foil for DCE when DCE under pressure.

3. Parcell: Great potential, but barely any NRL experience. Let him get used to NRL off the bench as back up to API.

4. Mateo: We need a ball-playing option in forwards. He is it.

5. Issac Johns: A back-up who should be encouraged to put as much pressure on Hiku as possible for the job and fill in during injuries/rep season

6. Moltzen: Best used as cover for outside backs.

7. Wright: Too raw.. years off regular first-grade spot.

8. Stewart: again why weaken a strength by moving Snake to 5/8th. He acts as second 5/8th anyway (better ball player than Foran ever was) and body too frail for front-line tackling.

Also NSW Cup needs a 5/8 *cough Moltzen*

Lyon will be 5/8
Hiku more likely centre which is far better than wing for him, plus Tom gets a gig on the wing.
He is obviously versatile enough to get it done at 5/8 as an extra runner & if there's injuries, but Hiku is a better centre than 5/8 or wing.

Lyon doesn't want to mate it won't happen

Would like to see Hiku start at 5/8 to build on his recent experience with the Kiwis.
We may well have our international replacement!

Realistically there's 4-5 players who have a valid argument for the spot.
Its gunna come down to trials Imo...we know 1 thing, competition for a spot is healthy...Foran showed in recent times when your an auto pick, the effort can become lacklustre....

At international level Hiku has completely outplayed two specialists in Inglis at fullback (final), and Widdop (last week). For those detractors they must now realise that we have a seriously talented footballer that simply has to be in our starting team.

I'm starting to believe Hiku might be a good choice for 5/8.

* He fits the criteria that Barrett seems to want our pivot to play by.
* It leaves Killer to play in the centres where he wants to be and is at his best.
* It means that someone like Mateo can stay in the back row.
* It would allow Barrett to have the 2 hookers in the side like he wants rather than one playing out of position.
* It would free up the right wing for someone with pace - i.e. Tommy.

But, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yes I reckon he will have a great year

It all is falling into place.

Oh how people laughed when some suggested Hiku to 5/8 in the past. Now we allwant the 3rd string NZ 5/8 to be the 1st picked.

I've been saying it since March this year. He is still very young and will grow in the position. He has all the tangibles you look for in a 5/8 and the plus is he won't be out for 3 games a year with SOO. I can see him and either Killer or Skivvy being a real handful for defensive lines when they link up.
