Will the real DARCY stand up.

Lussick's season was disrupted by injury. I agree 2018 is the year he will be expected to produce, no excuses. He is capable of it, so good luck Darcy, rip in as usual and also show you've learned some smarts.

Agreed. Very hard to gain consistency when you’re half knackered the whole time, and he missed most of pre-season so didn’t have the conditioning under his belt. I thought he came good towards the end of the season - as some point out, it did coincide with him playing in the starting side.

He’s a good prop, and a Manly boy. But he does play injured a lot, and you can see it is playing on his mind, especially when he flies through for a hit-up then almost always manages to ‘miss’ the target or get a glancing shot on them.

Whether through injury or ill discipline, Darcy has been a real disappointment and too inconsistent for my liking. I don't hate the guy and wish him well for next year. But I really can't see what the fuss is about him? If he's as good as a lot make out, why haven't we seen it all these years..

Haha love the club.............and have loved it longer than most on here given how old I am!!
I just think on our OWN forum we should be able to honest about the team rather than just toe the line that all is rosy.....

And ofcourse I do have some pet topics:

Scott Penn
Our recruitment policy/team
Green
Lussick
Kelly

😉:clap::h:

Your opinion that Lussick is "below average" is fine but he did show his capability in 2016! Is it really necessary to to insult his intelligence though?

"Given how old you are"? Do you require a long service fan acknowledgement or something? Most people on here have been fans a longtime as well 😉

Yes I would like one of those, can you arrange?

Well his intelligence (or lack of) is one of the reasons he is below average so I think its a pertinent point..................

Discipline is not the same as intelligence, it relates to impulsivity.

They are closely related ........there are studies and tests on the subject....

"There is a correlation between intelligence and delayed gratification, a proxy for impulse control. In a 2008 study, participants with the greatest activation in the anterior prefrontal cortex both scored the highest on intelligence tests and exhibited the best self-control"

But that's really irrelevant ....................are you really trying to suggest Darcy is impulsive as opposed to stupid?
What sort of idiot in the middle of a rugby league game tackles the opposition by the hair in full view of refs and cameras?
If that was an "impulse" , then I'm perhaps being kind by suggesting he is stupid, the boy's obviously got some bigger issues!

Well you may not be up to date with recent studies showing Zoloft can help inhibit impulsive behaviour.
Zoloft does not enhance intelligence.

Darcy was one of the very best props week in week out after his Mum died in 2016. I’d even suggest that given his form, he was irreplaceable, and it was no coincidence that when he got injured and missed the last four games, our finals aspirations took a nosedive. If he can get anywhere near that level again we’ll be cheering. Furthermore it’s not as if he was give him the flick bad this year either. There were a few games where he ran for 120 plus metres and made a real difference coming of the bench. Worth another season for sure.

SWEATY BIRTHDAY

POWERFUL Sea Eagles winger Jorge Taufua celebrated his 26th birthday this week – with a gruelling training session in the heat at our Narrabeen HQ.

Taufua missed the second half of the season with a knee injury but is making up for lost time with his rehabilitation. He was running strongly under the eye of head trainer Dan Ferris.

Taufua signed a new contract while he was out injured and is determined to have a big season in 2018.

Others into training early were Darcy and Joey Lussick and – would you believe

– star centre Dylan Walker.

Walker is waiting for his badly broken leg to mend enough for him to undergo a shoulder operation and was confined to upper body strength work.

The plan is for him to be back for round one against Newcastle next season.

Which brings me back to the first sentence and the reason for the thread ....there is no doubt Darcy has and has produced on occasions top rate talent.

The key to this thread is that he is one of perhaps 3 players with the potential to have a very big impact on our season.

DCE, Tom, Jake etc will do what DCE, Tom and Jake always do ... but Darcy and perhaps 3 others have the potential to make the biggest difference to our season.

Even those that can't function sans the need for Zoloft can see that was my original purpose ...

Can only be a good sign that Darcy would seem to have the right motivation and attitude in preparing for next season if he is back on the training paddock already .Probably just primarily needs Lady luck on his side on the injury front and some better controlled aggression to reproduce his regular 2016 consistent and strong efforts and performances . Definitely could be a real upside for Manly if he can again produce and full fill his potential next year and in addition with some others , lead and encourage good and better efforts from the other big potential improvers such as props A F B , Perrett and maybe Sipley . Again the key seems to be for Darcy to help himself with some better self discipline and control and simply a better run on the injury front .

Well said .... if, (and I repeat for the dopes) if, he does regain that form our pack quickly becomes imposing and goes to a top 4 unit in my opinion..

Another pair of players that I believe have the potential to influence our season in a major way are Kelly and Parker.

Darcy turns 29 on June next year and he is over the potential stage . All the great props have well and truly consolidated their statues in the NRL by the age of 29.
Darcy has shown he is capable but also has shown he is not consistent .
What makes competent , and great players ?
CONSISTENCY

WITHOUT CONSISTENCY WE CANT EXPECT SUCCESS !!!

To all our Manly players in all grades in 2018
Wishing you all an Injury free and successful season .
