Over recent years a few Silvertails, sufficiently bored or pissed off enough by Manly's mediocre seasons to have ventured into the General discussion forum, will know I've been sounding the alarm about the rise of far right movements here and abroad and the prospect of fascist regimes.

A couple of people vehemently howled down those warnings of course, but we haven't heard much from them lately.

Spotted this article this morning, it's quite short and makes a few clear points about why Australia is also subject to this shift.

What the article omits to mention is that fascist movements come to the fore when capitalism is under great stress, but that possibly doesn't need much elaboration.

As for Third World War, may not even be fought so much between countries as within countries?

Well I guess when we have 10% of the world's population controlling 90% of the wealth it's fairly clear something has to give.

We’d be just about there too if it wasn’t for that pesky Trump and those uneducated, ill informed yokels who keep voting for him. Still, just a momentary blip on the long march to the socialist utopia, when we won’t have to worry about that democratic voting nonsense. Good times. Unfortunately I can’t see the 10%/90% dynamic changing too much - the proles will still need to be kept under control by the elites after all. I for one will definitely love big brother. Perhaps I can get a job at the ministry of truth (previously “CNN”).

I have a rabid lefty mate over there and he said that it was supposedly 90k people ,not a penny more.
But if we supposedly had 50k on the bridge a few weeks ago ,that video shows the size of that crowd is at least 10x that ,just wow.

You nailed it with the distribution of wealth not changing all that much. But I would suggest that if the West crumbles as it appears will eventually happen, that wealth margin of 10%/90% might become more like 1%/99%. We will own nothing. I often chuckle at the thought of upper middle class Australian lefties losing everything under a serious commie world government. One day soon they might get to experience those Communist policies for real. Oh the irony is just too much.
