  • Apologies all our server was runing rogue. I managed to get us back to a point from 2:45 today though there is an attachment issue i will fix shortly. Things should be smooth now though
It's really disappointing that the refs can stop the game for around 4mins to fix someone's nose but couldn't take 10-20 seconds to work out the appropriate action for an accidental offside. If the ref had packed a scrum and the scum had scored off it that would have been bad enough, but to hand the scum a penalty within kicking distance to decide a game is verging on corrupt - yet again

Manly had plenty of chances to close that game out, ref errors aside.

We where playing the scum reserve grade side, with our 1st grade team.

It was a frustrating watch.
It was like Manly were more hoping to hang on to a lead, rather than drive the stake through their hearts....
The only way to beat Melbourne is to win the game and go on with it, not protect a lead.
There has been a few of these tight losses that have had a fair share of bad calls, but the inability to score more points in some of these dominating performances has been integral in losing this and at least 3 other games that were ours to win.

wish we had someone like Smith lurking in reserve grade.

guess with all our injuries we were playing with our SG Ball side so top effort

Re the 'accidental offside' ruling.
So, what should Joel have done? Waited till a Storm player picks up the ball and starts to run....
Then what? If he tackles him isn't he tackling him from an offside position? That would be a penalty.
Since when does the NRL ever worry about a ball coming off the head of a player? I give you Tyrone Peachy.
It's always ruled to be 'play on'.
Seriously, if you are a coach how are you going to instruct your players to react when a similar incident happens?
Perhaps Technical Coach, or others, can enlighten me.

I am very disappointed as well mate and I am disappointed because we are capable of playing a lot better than we have been through out the season .
We are a very under performing team .
We've been fielding the Blacktown team since round 4

We have not once had our top 17

We should have taken the shot at goal early in the 2nd half - lead 15-6.
Chip away and take everything you can get, because you know they'll get a penalty in kicking distance at some stage, take that out of the equation, they need to score twice to get in front.
Still may not have been enough to win but 2pts is 2pts extra.

I don't think Cherry is confident enough as a goal kicker. Had we had a specialist goal kicker I believe we would have opted for the two points.
The first penalty was from a more difficult position than the spot he ultimately kicked the subsequent penalty goal, which was a sitter.
Missing the conversion for our second try proved critical.

One thing I noticed on Saturday night and it was as obvious as the sun is bright on a summer's day.

After Kapow and AFB went off, our go forward died and if not for Jake's efforts, our defence up the middle would have been a lot worse.

Its OK to have quantity in depth, but you need some quality as well.

Also, think about this. While everyone is saying Melbourne had a virtually reserve grade side.....was ours as good as we could have had? No Taufua, Uate, Walker, Sironen or Koroisau. Lets be honest, if they were all fit and available.....would Matt Wright, Brad Parker, Manese Fainu, Frank Winterstein or Moses Suli even be in first grade right now? Because of injuries we have largely been relying on reserve grade quality fill-ins for almost the whole of this year.

DCE, the Turbos, Kapow, AFB, Thommo.....good or great as they are, they can't do it on their own.

The difference also as I see it, is that the Storm are also a very well coached side. Even their "reserve graders" who have to come in from time to time know their roles.

I'm talking about the penalty very early in the 2nd half, practically in front 10m out was a deadset gimme ( hell, I'd back myself to kick that ).
They hadn't been out their half, we'd had two sets at them so come away with something and reload at 15-6 up.
No we took the tap, turned it over on the 2nd tackle and an arsey repeat set and iffy strip penalty later they score to make it 13-12.
