2026 recruitment & retention

A new defensive coach would be a good start
Bingo! Someone like Bozo who got our D down to 12.4pts/game in '96. It's not just about the physicality, it's also about being able to read the attack and anticipate where the ball is likely to go. DCE wasn't very good at that, which is largely why our right side defence was such a shambles. I think Seebs has had enough time to fix it, but things may change with Fogarty there (even though his recent efforts don't offer much cause for hope).

@Seagles68 I don't think there is any doubt that Walsh will initially find it hard to play at NRL level next season. However, I think it's important that the Fogarty/Walsh halves combination is given as many games as possible, for Manly to have any chance of playing finals in 2026.

If he's good enough, he will handle it. If not, back to NSW Cup to further develop his skill set.
Isaiya Katoa made his first-grade debut for the Dolphins in round one 2023, was in and out of the NRL team, and look at him now. He did so without any NRL experience for the Panthers.
Yep, fair enough. I hope he kicks on and Brooks can help him out. Coz I still think he has something to offer.

Jake Turpin and Laurie Daily didnt even want to go near us. Now your confused cause a bloke hardly anyone has heard of is signing with us. Calm down.
Correction……Turpin took up an extension for next year & will then head West. Daley was prepared to go ahead, however his NSW job & other work related matters caused him to back down. Many people have heard of Molae & yes he’s a good get for us. He’s a beast. Seems you don’t watch much rugby league mate….

More concerned that we are actively recruiting these flops.

Confusion reigns. Anyone who hasn't heard of Davvy Moale has clearly been living under a rock.
My ? mark on Davey is his mobility. The game is just getting quicker and quicker, and I suspect a few more teams will follow the dogs with a smaller more mobile pack this off season. One big bopper on the field at any time yeah ok. I suspected the Heather signing could be a step that way. But moale suggests we will stay pretty big. A Combo at best.
