AFB Charged over Cronk hit

Trying to get my head around all this. Firstly, Melbourne's Nelson Asofa Solomona didn't get charged for his spear on Blake Green, despite it looking a nasty incident. Secondly, Parramatta's Kenny Edwards doesn't get charged for an ugly cheap shot on a player lying helpless on the ground. AFB gets one week for a hit which wasn't deemed hard enough for Cronk to leave the field for a concussion assessment. If Cronk was hurt, he should have gone off - plain as that. Seriously folks, is this the NRL's idea of a good old-fashioned "fair go?"

Those of us who think this competition at present appears to favour certain teams and players have yet more ammunition. I know what the great Tooves would like to see happen ... an investigation! Fat chance I say! Whenever criticised, the NRL simply deny allegations of inconsistency and unfairness as coming from whinging losing coaches, disgruntled supporters or both, but I reckon there are plenty of people out there who know the game who'd agree with me.

Maybe someone can raise both issues with Paul Kent on twitter and we can hope he'll bring it up on fox tonight.

So far the NRL are getting away with blatant favouritism....or should I say MORE blatant favouritism @

Guess who they want in the GF. These 2 favoured teams

A similar spear tackle took away a mans life as he knew it, how can the nrl ignore this. Any manly player would have got 5 weeks for that im sure of it.
This competition is beyond a joke, i wont watch any non manly games anymore.

You won't find anyone that's hates Melbourne more than me, for my stag do I got dressed up in Storm gear, nearly the worst moment of my life

However, that spear tackle, there wasn't a lot in it, Green landed on his back, happy for no charge for that one, I know it could have gotten more dangerous than it was, but in reality there wasn't any intent in there, it just went wrong, if he landed square in his melon it's a completely different issue. These things happen sometimes, bit like API's hit a few weeks back when he took the runners legs out hard and he somersaulted and landed on his head

How come there's no talk about Cronk being allowed to stay on after a hit to the head?

All clubs have had to take players off for hits softer than that one.

It's infuriating how differently some clubs are treated.

That was obvious.

Even the dogs have been fined for not taking their players off.

All clubs should be furious over this.

Cronk's didn't qualify as a HIA. He wasn't limping off with a leg injury, wasn't holding his arm or shoulder and wasn't holding his ribs.

Just on that, how do you fail a HIA when you haven't actually received a head knock? Are some clubs teaching players how to fail the HIA test in order to get a free interchange?

But there was intent from afb was there?
Im sorry but as far as im concerned any spear tackle warrants send off due to how easily it can turn to tragedy
My kids play the game and it is my biggest fear

We have lost sight of what a spear tackle actually is, it used to be a guy lifted up and then driven into the ground while upside down

No intent from AFB, but the result was he got him in the head

No intent from ANS, but the big difference was that Green landed on his back, and I don't think anybody should be suspended for coming down on their back. We got penalised as well yesterday for lifting a player and putting him down on his front, thought that the penalty was a joke, and no suspension there either, because we didn't drop the guy on his head

Totally understand where you are coming from in regards to spears and what damage they can cause, have about 5 months to go to before i start worrying about what will happen to my little one, but I just don't like going down the path of suspending players because of what could have happened, needs to be on what actually happens

Agree, and add to this last week against the Dragons Cullen gets KO'd (and failed a HIA) yet nothing said, no action taken 😡 :swear:

Edwards WAS charged for that ugly grubby shot on a helpless player but was only fined $1100 - whoopee doo! - yet AFB gets suspended for a hit that was nowhere near as bad. The favouritism towards some teams is blatantly obvious and extremely infuriating @ :swear:

so the piece of garbage Edwards gets a fine for the biggest dog act iv seen after a high tackle as well gets a fine.. I hope everyone is starting to see whats going on here.. oh and no charge on the dog that spear tackled green..
If Edwards did that to cam Smith on his 350th game hahaha he'd be rubbed out for weeks like poor soliola. classic bs from a bs comp run by degenerates

It is a tough one as you go into dangerous territory if players are penalised based on the extent of the injury caused to another player - it should be a factor in increasing penalties (for serious injury) but i am not sure you can let someone off if they have been careless and the other player is okay

Broncs stomping on the ankle of a tackled player - 'nothing to see here' 😡
