AFL , no jab no play will NRL do the same

With the amount of **** some of these blokes seemingly put into their bodies on a Saturday night, or during the off season, I can't see getting the jab as too much of an issue.

It may be decided for them...

NRL won’t follow AFL in mandating vaccination for players, staff: Abdo

By Adrian Proszenko and Peter Ryan

October 21, 2021 — 7.45pm

Chief executive Andrew Abdo says the National Rugby League will not follow the lead of the AFL and introduce a mandatory vaccination policy, but public health orders of state governments or the requirements of airlines may end up forcing the issue.
“Of course, this could be taken out of our hands by public health orders in various states or by airlines. We’ve already seen in Victoria that all professional sportspeople entering a stadium need to be vaccinated.

“There will be repercussions for those who choose not to be vaccinated, but it’s not our approach currently as the governing body to mandate it.

“Between now and the off season we will have a very clear set of guidelines for clubs and players getting back to training safely, for those in the process of getting fully vaccinated and those who aren’t yet vaccinated.”

Smart of the NRL to do this. Not mandating vaccines keeps the anti vax cohort happy, but they'll still ensure everyone gets the jab by way of entry requirements to venues, airline requirements, etc. Then the NRL can just say 'oh sorry, it's out of our hands'. The reality is, whilst not mandated by the NRL, players who don't get vaccinated won't be playing.

Agree, it will be this way in many workplaces.

Its only when it starts burning the hip pocket will the anti vax players fall into line.

Player x on a 700k contract is all of a sudden told sorry once we take out matches in QLd, Vic and NZ your contract will only be 575k so all good yeah will player x rush to get the jab.

Weasel words, the NRL should just come out and say it is necessary due to the nature of the Health Orders.

Pretty funny when you think they’ll happily snort “ nose beers “ but not take a jab to potentially save their own or their families lives.

My wife as a diabetic is now compromised by Covid , we are immunised but still need to be careful.

Our family all need to be vaxxed to come and see us ( not that they can as they can’t get over the border but that’s another story ).

Truly I’m surprised the NRL haven’t followed suit.
