What they’re meant to do is either contest the bomb, or wait until they hit the ground then try and hold them up.
Why shouldn’t a perfect bomb be rewarded with a penalty try, if the catcher is taken illegally?

Sloan was contesting the bomb and then was coming back down to ground.
He couldn't suddenly turn limp or liquid or vanish.
The problem is the NRL rule makers made any semblance of a tackle in the air illegal.
But there was no need for this as the rules had always said a dangerous tackle is a penalty.
And there was nothing dangerous about what Sloan did yesterday.
The NRL pursues black and white rules becuase it can't handle a referee using their own judgement.

At this point that would be the Roosters, who somehow with half a dozen Origin players, still aren't in the Top 8.

Obviously Rednuts and Sharpe etc are low level but them alleged high level gimps Klein/Sutton etc are on $300k. Paid like professionals lift your bloody game to professional!

This is why players that turn into actors get rewarded, which I hate.. but if JC stayed down, he more than likely would of got a penalty but he shouldn't have to turn into an actor to get an obvious high shot x 2 penalty.

I was quite happy they didn’t penalise that,as there was very minimal contact.Good on Campbell for not milking it,but consistency is the problem.Maybe if the “actors” are called out more and embarrassed,it may stop players from carrying on,although they won’t care if it gets their team an advantage.I feel for the NRL/refs at times.Coaches and players are forever trying things to gain an advantage and the refs are always chasing their tails to keep up with every shifty act they come up with
