Bye: Sea Eagles

Yes, we're in early. Address complaints to your garbage bin.

Some of you are closer to the 'vibe' than me (like basically all of you).

So is it a blessing or a curse that we don't get to play at magic round?

It feels like a bit of a blessing tbh, but I'm not sure if there's a big windfall that the club misses out on?

Love it that Manly isn't there.
We need the break.
Plus it was so infuriating always playing the Broncs there but it was our home game.

Meanwhile, good luck tipping in magic round. There 's only one hot favourite (dogs) out of all the games.
Mind you not many of those games look very interesting, I might have a bye round myself 🙂

Is it possible to fix the ladder that appears here? (or is it just me?)

Love Magic Round as I live up here, but not going this year due to our bye. It gets some hate from down south but it's just jealousy, it's a great footy party weekend with everyone all in together.

But yeah the windfall "home game" sale deal is over. Not sure how the Round itself is split.

Not sure about missing out on a slice of the pie but I'd choose that rather than us having another 'home' game vs Broncs at Suncorp. Neither seems fair but as usual the Magic Round Manly loading strikes again.

Having said that, the timing of this bye suits us very well. Several players can get over their injuries, no travelling and the whole team can stay home and freshen up. In particular though, I feel having won well on Saturday, we've turned the corner and can now rest up and work on winning the games ahead.

I'm pleased Manly isn't playing in Magic round for two main reasons:
1. The rules around high contact/sin bins/send offs will be changed in some way due to the current backlash and officiating will be a magical mystery experience. We can sit back, watch the mayhem and laugh as some teams get absolutely shafted by pakapoo rulings... and
2. Due to the amount of rain Brisbane is having the state of the surface is going to cause a lot of injuries.

You forgot the 3rd.
Spoony would complain about all the travelling he has to do.

Judiciary:

Things have gone from bad to worse for the bottom-placed Panthers with Scott Sorensen suspended for three games after losing at judiciary on Tuesday night.

Sorensen was contesting the grading after he was cited for a shoulder charge on Manly enforcer Nathan Brown who was returning a kick-off from the back fence on Saturday.

But the judiciary upheld the grade two charge and Sorensen copped an extra game on his original two-game ban.

He will be unavailable for Penrith’s Magic Round clash against the Broncos on Sunday, as well as matches against the Cowboys and Knights.

- I guess it was the grading but I was a bit surprised he contested anything. A true shoulder charge, no ifs or buts.
Gets one more week added to the suspension.

Very good point re the rain although it’s been dry the last 4 days or so. Also three games at Suncorp last weekend after heavy rain. Broncos, Reds and Roar all played at Suncorp last weekend. I’m fine with magic rnd bye. Sick of playing broncs here as a home game.

I prefer that we are not involved in Magic Round. Playing Brisbane each year at home around a hyped up carnival atmosphere on their home turf is throwing two points down the drain and one of the dumbest money making decisions I’ve seen from a club.

I’m also grateful for the ‘break’ as a fan. I can spend this weekend relaxing without having Manly’s performance colour my weekend.

Penrith might not make the GF this year, but they still have the players to make the Top Eight.

Remember, Manly had two wins after the first eight rounds in 2009. They only lost four more games on the way to the finals.
I reckon they are done. I wasn’t disillusioned by their win over easts. They have been awful this year and I can’t see them getting out of this slump anytime soon. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Broncs put a score on them. I also think the score on Sat flattered them. We really should have been up by 20 or even 30 at halftime on Sat night. Thought dce blew key pressure building moments that may have opened the floodgates.

I kinda feel sorry for the guy. Not a thug. I really don’t know what they expect defenders to do in that situation. He has other defenders either side of him which limits the space he can occupy, with BFB charging full tilt at you. It’s a natural reaction to brace yourself using your shoulder to absorb impact.
