Aloiai Gone

Is there any official update on Josh Aloiai?
I’d expect that he and the club will exhaust all rehabilitation options before initiating any medical retirement process. Even if that path is taken, it's highly unlikely the retirement would be finalised before the June 30 deadline—meaning we probably wouldn’t be able to enter the market for a replacement in time.
Won't get done before June 30. The process will take a few months at least. The benefit of cap relief will be from next year onward.

It's high time our recruitment team went shopping... throw some coin at someone half decent who is already contracted but getting paid unders & "persuade" them to break their contract! I.e what AFB did to us
Surely there must be some players that the Tigers don't want, jokes aside we were ready to sign Alex Twal earlier this year, FMD

Aloiai has been underwhelming since day 1. I doubt he has ever been fully fit the whole time he has been here. Tried hard but just an average NRL prop IMO. I’ll take a medical retirement for him if we can invest in a more dynamic middle forward to replace him. Need some younger, fitter, stronger props. Do we not have any depth in this position - what about James ?
It’s been a pretty bloody ordinary contribution from Oshay to be honest. His first season was peppered with ill discipline; be it suspensions or dumb penalties. Then he sorted his discipline out and started getting injuries. Then he played chief agitator in the Pride saga, then went on a stretch of injuries leading up to what looks like a medical retirement…and not a bad pay packet for someone who has given very little back.

Agree with this. I’m a little befuddled by all the positivity on his contribution to Manly. From where I sit he has been very underwhelming indeed, and littered with absences from the field.

That’s great news. Free up some coin to throw at a Prop, second rower or hooker. I’d take any of those….

Good luck to him though. Just glad he’s won’t be playing for us anymore…

Yes, a pity Oshay didn’t retire at then end of last season, then we may have had a chance signing May, unfortunately I don’t think the tigers will be letting him go any time soon

Sounds like you might be the type to mow the lawns?

Hopefully Bully has definitely committed or agreed to terms for another few seasons and Tent can make a full recovery by season "s end
Then leaving most probable Jake and T K O to carry on into next season as other likely middle options ,
Sipley may well stay on but with status quo there , hardly going to enhance the middle stocks that much .
Think that James would have been promoted much closer to ist grade contention by now if considered up to it , Sykes always has seemed to have some potential but also just short of the next required level .
Taking into account that Alioia was essentially bought in to try and compensate [ or largely ] for A F B leaving some seasons ago , sure that a priority would be to definitely try to find another formidable prop somehow .
Disappointing that May was not quite hitting his straps some time ago at Blacktown but that "s the way it goes sometimes unfortunately

Look, I’m on the fence about him as a player for us—both in terms of what he brings on and off the park. But there's no denying what a brutal sport these guys play for our entertainment.

Sure, he might get a payout, but he’ll be dealing with shoulder issues for the rest of his life. That kind of injury could easily limit his ability to get work after footy, and I just hope he’s managed to set himself up for life beyond the game.

I really do hope he finds a fulfilling path post-footy and doesn’t end up paying too high a price, physically or mentally, for the sacrifices he made for our enjoyment.
