So I referee Oz Tag as well as play, and am going to the state cup in March as a referee as well.
I need to upgrade my whistle as I have been using a cheapo that is pretty lame. The only thing that gets me by is my current repore with the players.
So I want to get a new whistle and am looking for advice on the best one to get.
I have had some advice that the Fox 40 is pretty crap and hard to get a good authoritative tone out of it, and thus avoid it.
The next advice is the Acme Thunderer. however it seems there are multiple different Acme Thunderers and I want to make sure I am getting the right one.
So if there are any other refs out there, of Rugby League, Oz Tag or Union can you let me know which whistle you use and how your find it for tone and volume.
(the reason I am not including soccer etc is that they usually have a higher toned whistle, and it isn't highly suitable for this situation and sport.)
