Barrett/Cartwright

I have been wondering about this for a while - many here say with certainty that Bozo is the one actually coaching the side. Can someone tell me what this is based on? Has he been seen running the training or is this based on player selections? Not being smart, just asking the question.
 
I am not part of the coaching team so I can't honestly say for certain that this is true or not, but there were stories and rumours that Barrett was a 'puppet coach' and that Bozo was the one pulling the strings, especially with things like team selection.

And there were stories that Barrett even blew up about things from time to time, including when he apparently wanted to take Snake out of the side and put Tommy at FB (this was the week before we played the Cows in Townsville). Allegedly Bozo and ZtH (and Snake) wanted him to play but Barrett wouldn't budge and they only agreed to it by saying that if it failed then it was on Barrett's head. Now of course there seems to be support for the move since Tom showed what he can do from back there.

I have heard one story that Barrett is actually on borrowed time because he's not playing the Yes Man that Bozo and ZtH expect him to be, and that the as soon as they can get Des back or bring in someone else if Des won't come back, they will and it'll be bye bye Trent.
 
You know, I kinda feel for Trent Barrett. I've got no doubts that he wants to be a successful coach because you don't get into that gig just because its something to pass the time. Unfortunately though it seems that he might have gotten into a situation where even though his is the coach, he's not actually being fully allowed to do that.

I'm not saying that Trent Barrett is or even will be a good first grade coach. I think the potential is there but that through circumstance (injuries etc) he hasn't been able to even start proving it yet and its why I'd like to at least give him 2017 with hopefully (at least) a mostly healthy team before passing judgement on his coaching ability.
 
If we sacked the coach we would attract no coaches as manly would be known as Sacksville.

If Barrett will become a top coach we'll see evidence in 2017. Besides Dessie is busy 🙂

Personally I think he does have the makings of a good first grade coach but won't get to prove it with us under the current circumstances.

As for Cartwright? Boy he must have formed a good relationship when Control Freak was the Kangaroos coach back in the 90's because I can't see any benefit to having him at Manly.

I keep saying this and I believe this we will be making of TB here at Manly. He truly will never be able to pick the team he wants while Penn and Bozo are here.

He will coach the Dragons one day and that is where I think he will have his success. He will be battle hardened after the 2 years with us , don't see Him lasting after next season ( I think we may improve but won't be anywhere near the top probably finish 10-12th).

If TB had a good assistant and had a CEO, Owner, and other support staff who were on the same page I think he could have success here but he won't.

I think he would make a fantastic assistant coach! But he is on ****ing L plates. He got very little out of our fringe players last year.
We need Des back, simple as that.....can't believe I want the rat back, but you cannot question his results and he satisfies the ex Manly legend coach criteria. I reckon the Pennsters want him back also

It's not a problem with players not coming here, it's a problem with players being inaccurately rumoured to be targeted by us
 
I liked the dogs one as well - we know you let Hoppa have Sunday off but why did you let the rest of the team had Fridays and Saturdays off?
