Baz, it's time to leave Manly – and no, you don't deserve a cent

The nrl could do worse than employing judge Judy to preside over this matter. And the judiciary. She would have buried slater.
She any good at finance? Surely that's one area that needs a bomb put under it.

Trent is a turd. A gen y like attitude where he wants compensation for not fulfilling all his dreams and bugger everyone else.

But! The Penns need to learn the art of the deal. This should just not happen legally. I presume it was to protect a club from a coach walking out mid season but now it’s flipped.

Trent though. What a ****. Complains there are not enough resources and then tries to screw the club like its making loads of dough. Great spirit Trent you sick replicant.
Hate to burst the prejudiced bubble you live in but he’s definitely gen x

.
The thing is he's 40 years old. He's a gen x not a y. He seems a lot younger due to Zoolander eyes, a whole bottle of gel and most coaches are 45+ to 1,000 - Bennett.
Time for Trent to be a grown up. I'm sure he's a great caring friend to young players like the Turbos but these young men need a coach not a mate.
If this guy has any chance of becoming a decent coach he needs to forget being everyone's best mate.

The level of hypocrasy, double standards and advanced level numb-nuttedness in this place is awe inspiring ... the kennell are logging on in droves to take lessons in Punchie etiquette ....

Just a reminder fellow brain scientists ....

You have just lauded as a hero the coming of a man who was taking his last employer to court for a 2 year payout ...... AND he didn't even have a signed contract ........ and got it .......

And PSS .... Good on Dessie .... and also happy to have him back at Manly

your missing the point .... he never stoped working for us!!

Seems pretty conclusive that tendering one "s resignation in Baz "s case while still under contract and being dismissed or sacked with a Heads of Agreement [ Still representing some form of a contract arrangement in Dez "s instance ] are two different situations entirely . Still apparently no official indication that Baz "s departure has been finalized . Maybe some last minute dispute over some furniture ownership or removal .

Yes but Des can coach.

Ok .... the way it currently stands ..... Baz has tended his 12 month notice as req'd by his contract and under the terms of that contract he is working as head coach up until June 2019 ......

Now if Manly decide (as they have) that they wish to alter that arrangement or "sack" Barrett before the termination of the notice period, then Manly is breaking the contract and then a payout is legally, morally and ethically due .... Just like it was for Des and 9 out of 10 coaches of all clubs over the past 2 decades .....

Baz knew that he could have put his big boy pants on and gone to the club and said "ill see out the year and we can both agree to leave it at that" Penn would have paid him and he could have salvaged some cred. But he winged through his manager and now wants to get paid for doing a grown ups job, but he is having a tantrum at the same time.
No adult, professional coach has ever tried to resign half way through the next season, not in the last few decades, not ever.

This type of situation happens all the time in the real world. As an example when Someone resigns as they have taken up a role with another company that could be a competitor they are marched straight away from the office - they go on gardening leave for the remainder of their notice period.

This is done to protect the existing employer ie stop someone poaching information/IP/customers etc

I see the Trent situation no different- he is on gardening leave for the rest of his notice period.

If he wants another job during the period he has to come to an arrangement with the club to release him from his notice period.

How do you know he didn't .... we have no idea what conversations took place and which party was trying to be reasonable ..... not sure I would put to big a bet on it being Penn ...

We will probably never know ..... but whether peoples bums are sore or not ... Baz has fulfilled his legal obligations and if Penn whishes to terminate him before the conclusion of his notice period, then he needs to pay him out just like every other coach that gets sacked is payed out ....

That is true .... unless the contract stipulates specific job functions, duties and responsibilities ...... it may not be as simple as just going on gardening leave ....

Don "t think that the general circumstances concerning Baz "s official and previous contract situation is in any particular disagreement . Just his timing and motives of his resignation and now the negotiated [ and probably ongoing ] exit arrangements or deal and who has or seems to have [ or had ] the upper hand and strongest bargaining position or stance .

Pfft. Baz has not fulfilled his legal obligation, he was hired as a coach. Clearly he is not.

Anyway jokes on him because it's his reputation that is swirling down the drain.
Penn's are not running out of money anytime soon.

Max Krilich is on the job @;)
