Cap relief for Sea Eagles

Absolutely mate, and at the same time I’d be filthy with the fact that we’ve had to operate 300k+ under the cap this year (which cost us Pearce), and would have scared off potential sponsors etc if we are to have the penalty heavily reduced.
But job has been already done by Todd and co as you said
You bet once Todd knew he was in trouble with this case he wanted to drag this out as long as he could.
You can bet the findings of this will be realeased the 2 weeks after the gf on a Tuesday at some really unusual time very small retraction on the nrl site.
Job done by the nrl.
Now their second job will be to secure us last place ..you watch the next 2 weeks dogs cowboys parra will get all the 50/50calls

Can Manly sue if found non guilty of cheating?.

Honestly look at the horrible damage done by all these witch hunts. Must be a value to that and Manly should sue the NRL for all they can.

Let's wait for the outcome before getting too excited. It might be a penalty reduction rather than a 'not guilty'.
At the least I'd hope it should give us a little leverage with NRL HQ for various kinds of support to help us bounce back from the unfair hardships imposed.

Haha we would have at least one more win cause if we had him he couldn’t have won the game for Newcastle haha

I don't think we would have been paying Pearce 800k or thereabouts for him to get us just one win.

We've lost 3 games by 1 point this year. The Knights game in round 1 (in which Pearce starred) was one that we threw away and the other two games had very dubious refs calls against us. We should have steam rolled the Panthers and Titans at Brookie. We also lost our first game against the Roosters by 2 points, in a game where DCE missed a conversion from pretty much right in front of the sticks. That's 6 games where a decent 5/8 really could have worked for us. Aside from the Sharks game, we haven't been able to ice any of the close encounters we've had. 6 of our 7 wins have been by decent or great margins

I was being facetious....

It has been posted that there is a clause in the contracts between clubs and the NRL that clubs can't take the NRL to court. This clause itself could not possibly be legally defendable.

The NRL is bound to provide fair and unbiased treatment for all franchisees under corporate law.
The club can take the NRL to court regardless of a win/loss verdict on the basis of brand damage, restriction of trade and duty of care to our franchise.for the way we have been dragged through the mud under their administration.
I am astonished at the unbridled torment the club has been exposed to and how it can go unchecked by the government department the NRL is supposed to be held accountable to.

I would imagine law offices would line up to take our case with the amount of damages that would be on offer.

The only thing it would take is an owner with the pride, passion and balls required to kick-start it.

While you can sue anyone for anything (it just may not work in your favour), Lyall has mentioned a couple of times that the outcome of the review and subsequent nrl ruling will be the last and accepted ruling. That is, the club will move on.

As for Buzz's story: any good or half decent news by the rotten core of a few sports 'journos' makes me nervous. I remain firmly planted in the 'believe it when I see it' camp.

Does everyone see the increase anti anti Manly propaganda when the team can not make the finals? It's like they always hold back a little bit in case we get into the top eight and prove them wrong; but when there is no chance, the gloves are off.

(Debacle of a season on and off field notwithstanding)

"Blatant cheats" is what we got called by Greenburg, his slimy lawyer, Weekes and the media representatives gullible enough to only listen to one side of the story.

How can the NRL soften "Blatant cheating" to something like bending the rules?

Surely, and are there not a few legal eagles in here, But just because there is a clause in a contract, It can't put you above or beyond the law.

A bloody good apology and being recognised as 2007 and 2013 premiers is enough for me

He has.
Why is that the case?
Because our owner does not have the pride, passion or balls to hold the NRL responsible for the trauma they have intentionally inflicted on our club.
