Unfortunately, his health is not all that great. He was a great coach and introduced more of the Kiwi influence to Manly . ie Iro bros, Adrian Shelford.
Hear him every now and again on SENZ. He still loves the club, and I’d presume that he set in motion some of the building blocks that saw us eventually turn into a great side in the mid 90s

Publicly we'll say there were no suitable replacements at fullback but I'll wager our owners have happily just pocketed the compensation cash. And as for extending player X or front ending a contract I am sure the NRL would knock that on the head. There would be rules aplenty against that unless we had our headquarters at Redfern or Red Hill.

Manly found themselves with around $350,000 to secure a replacement for their injured player, but sourcing a suitable stand-in proved unsuccessful. This was partially due to the Tigers‘ refusal to release Tommy Talau, even though he’s slated to join Manly next year.

With the mid-year trade window closing on 7 August, Manly won’t have the chance to rectify this gap. The Tigers, on the other hand, are eyeing off-season as the opportunity to welcome new recruits, Samuela and Latu Fainu, whom Manly would have let go earlier if the Tigers had been interested.

Beyond Talau, Manly had been pursuing multiple high-profile players like Lachlan Miller, Daine Laurie, and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. However, absent a shift in the stance of rival clubs, Manly is poised to proceed without any new additions for this season’s remainder.
