Match Stats

Can object all he likes - Tui is out injured with an MCL, we also lost him for the back end of the game - lost him for longer than 10-mins. I can't think of a better time to use the Bin than when you take a player out of the game.

Should have binned that prick from the Sharks last week that did that reckless/deliberate corkscrew action on Taniela whilst his team-mate had the other leg above the waistline.
Agree 100%, we are now racking up injuries. Hopefully Burbo and the Lawman are back next week against the Chooks.

Maybe he'll do a Matterson and refuse to pay, oh wait uncle nick will do the old golf challenge for 3k, damn.

Team Victory Song:

We are the Manly boys,
We had a win today,
We are the boys you know of
We showed them how to play,
No matter where we’ll be
Maroon and White you'll see,
Oh aren’t we a wonderful credit
To our locality,
So cheer boys cheer,
We are together,
Every now and then we have a win…..have a win
We will play them all around
At our home or any ground,
If they’ll always play a fair and honest game
So it’s GUZZZLE GUZZLE GUZZLE
As we pour it down our muzzle,
And sing out the order loud and clear, 'MORE BEER',
And we will drink all night
Until we are very tired
In the shade of the Manly Leagues Club.

One of my favorites. Penalty, kick for touch, take tap, and for whatever reason pass 2 into a slow plodding forward and end up 5 meters behind the point of where the tap was taken. This allows the defensive team to get through 2 tackles without taking a backward step..... INFURIATING.
Didn’t want to get on the team tonight either but this point is insanely idiotic, it’s such a negative play, we lose ground more often than not, tap the ball and hit it up, we make 6 to 8 meters every time, it’s equivalent to just throwing away a tackle.

Few things from the game:

  • We barely ran from dummy-half. The Saints chewed easy metres there (especially the last Qtr)
  • The line-speed of the opposition forces a big Schuey/DCE cut-out that has a higher risk of error - coz we refuse to run from dummy-half as much
  • We fade hard in the last stanza - by 60mins we're done. Its becoming a frustrating habit
  • Matterson was noticeably good today
  • Parker is tougher than most of our Fwds - we haven't given him a contract yet AFAIK. We should be getting this guy bulked up and in our Fwd pack, he has the starch.
  • Lodge has been a revelation for us the last couple, shame he has not been backed up by the rest of the pack
  • Keppie showed today why he won't get another contract. On for 5mins, drops the ball (loose carry don't care what you say), and then gives a high-shot penalty. He just always seems to be involved in those sorts of momentum swings. It's infuriating. Either start with him, or leave him out of the team.
  • We scored down the edges with flashy play, but in the back-end we reverted to 1-out - protecting our lead like a turtle on it's fkn back. Doesn't work, we get no metres, it gasses the team as our sets last 30secs and need only 5 tackles, and just gees up the opposition who line up on these easy predictable sets and gain the ascendency.
  • Is the opposition line-speed superior to us every game? Feels like it lately (since the Rooters game). Either that, or the offside is only being policed on 1-side
  • 6-agains were lopsided, but a lot of them were defending our line - and our line defence was pretty damn good today.
  • We also get no 6-agains coz we don't have a dummy-half that exploits slow/lazy marker defence. We got owned there again, and have every week I can remember this year. Its not only the hooker too from oppositions that get these quick dummy-half runs, so don't put it all on Frog (even though he needs to take the line on a lot more than he does)
  • Another week where we got killed in the Metres Gained stat. What the hell is going on there? Siebolds coaching is all over this.
  • Schuster is Jekyll and Hyde. At least he took the line on a few times today - he needs that in his game so promising signs.
  • No point playing 1-out to keep completions high, when we (a) lose the Metres gained every week and (b) still end up with 70% completion rate.
This year, the team has only really been belted by Penrith, Parra and the Broncos. But its those games that we play strong for periods, and then have the game wrestled away from us that sting the most - even in those games we win (Souths away, Titans at home, Cowboys at home, Roosters at home, Melbourne away, Sharks last week, Dragons this week - probably more). It's a frustrating fan experience this year, and as we keep finding a way to win to keep our season on life-support the wild ride continues.

Next week might well be the finale for this odd season. Or it might be our springboard to finals. Who knows.

We again lack energy and we slowed right down in half 2. Its a shame cause time and time again we shredded them out wide.

Schuster concerns me with his defence and options under pressure. He seems to have the weight of the world on his shoulders. He really needs to lift!

Congratulations to DCE and Froggy for your respective milestones.

For 20 years we suffered horrible punishment at Wollongong so to finally win there is comforting.
I think the only real problem with Baby Face is that he needs a solid punching out on a regular basis.

To paraphrase Bogie, he can ‘Take it and like it.’

It's fuking frustrating and irritating beyond belief. If this guy thinks he should command the big $$$ then what he throws up as far a game management snd involvement for the full 80 minutes is garbage.
Have you even got 1 positive post???

Seriously who do you support..lmfao

We won.. where its not easy to win and any NRL side can win on its day regardless if they are 16th

We had no ball and got smashed on the penalty count but still won.. if Turbo plays "our best player, who is obviously out) we win by 40

It doesnt matter how you win as long as you win

Boy oh boy, Schu is a worry. Showed a couple of great moments, a few poor moments, and then invisible for most of the remaining time. I guess he's consistent with this sort of performance.
Actually I thought it was one of his better efforts. He will infuriate like that for a few years, then hopefully hit maturity. A bit like Cliff Lyons, who was pretty dusty early in his career.

We won the penalties 9-5 yet only had 40% possession due to our horrendous 13 errors to their 7. The goons have won 5 games all year and are equal 2nd last.
