The fact that four of the N R L "s clubs in Titans , Newcastle ,West Tigers and Dragons [ 25 % of the clubs ] have either been owned or dependent on receiving funds from the N R L in recent times would have probably restricted any more serious or concerted scrutiny or pressure on the N R L hierarchy and for better performance and accountability . There was [and probably still is ] some general disfunction and lack of co ordination at a senior level and with Greenberg and Grant apparently having some major differences in previous times . In terms of financial management and with the very substantial and assured income of the previous five year T. V rights and State of origin matches and so on , it can really be only considered quite a poor and critical indictment and reflection on the N R L management that there is now very little to show for some of their previous activities and the current fiscal state of its operation . It seems that Grant was pressured to leave with the pressure of most of the independent N R L clubs and some other board entity "s . so perhaps a bit optimistic but maybe soon or in future changing circumstances and unless he can lift his performance and game to some acceptable level , Greenberg will be similarly vulnerable and disposable .
We can but only hope!
Although it would take a very dynamic CEO to come in and change the structure, given the pressures from the RLPA and the Broadcasters who are both very self serving!
