Five years and a billion dollars later NRL is broke

Well guys. Get used to AFL because its light years ahead of League with management and development. The only improvement in the game has been the rise of the Pac Is groups, especially PNG. And they run their teams on shoe strings.Rugby League suffered a major epidemic back in the mid 1990s called Superleague. We are still suffering from this ongoing ailment while News Ltd and Channel 9 have any control of our game. They want to broadcast Rugby League...fine. They want to pay for it...fine. They want to control its decisions...bullcrap. Again AFL knows how to play these media corps. Greenburg et al are just sock puppets for News and 9

You're correct, the only thing that prevents AFL from completely obliterating other codes and dominating Australian sport is the fact that it is such a $hithouse game.

People said from the start that Greenturd was the wrong man for the job and it keeps getting proved as such over and over and over.

That PoS, and his offsider Grant, need to resign before they run the competition into the ground. The problem is that they will hit rock bottom and continue to dig.
After gallop should have been, and I'm hoping I get his name right because we haven't heard of him since, Peter mitrivski ?? who was 2ic to take over.
When he stood in for gallop he was probably just too good for the job.
I would like to see Bernie Gurr overthrow the bald headed grub and the other idiot with the beard.

It's sad how the game has fallen. Back in the 80's when I was a young fella going to games, the game was the event, now the event happens around the game.
The game has gone from a personal battle between teams steeped in history to an impersonal game based on "franchises" going through the motions as the stakeholders around it try and make as much money as possible.
Very very sad.

Business Class airfares , Corporate Suites, Chauffeured Limo’s, entertaining very easy to spend big big money if you have access to it!.

PS: I just made that up, I really don’t know but that sounded good!

Dont forget spending half a million dollars for a politically driven grand final 5 song extravaganza....
Further to this, the finals should be at least a break even for the nrl? Surely no matter who they pay to perform the costs would be more than covered by tickets and food and bev??

Not defending the NRL here, but I would say a substantial part of the revenue would be in the form of contra, I imagine all the advertising on Nine and Fox is not paid for by the NRL.
