I get that people are suss about Galvin taking ‘unders’ at the dogs but personally I do not think his situation is comparable to previous “market-value” determinations…
Galvin is a kid - a very good kid but still a kid… he is in his 2nd year of grade with a club that were the wooden spooners last year…
Yes he has potential (obviously) and yes he was offered $1M per year by his existing team but that should not mean he is shackled to that club… the kid is at the start of his career and should be able to make career decisions that are based on growth, coaching, family, lifestyle, whatever…
once he actually wins something or takes a team to finals then, yes, I agree that teams should (will?) not be able to table offers $300K below the offers of other teams but, right now, his ‘market value’ is still to be determined imo…
Not saying the dogs are NOT pulling out paper bags but the kid should be allowed to choose his own direction …
